Re: The Politics Thread

You sound like a toddler. "They won't let democracy win, wah". "Civility is actually the overcoming of the will to power, the natural desire to dominate others, not a mask for covering over that natural political attitude." Words of wisdom from Ann Hartle professor of philosophy at Emory University...

Re: Today I'm angry about.....

Ok, I've heard everything now. We have a village do on over the weekend, which finished last night, but the vegan food stand is going all week (or until it runs out of food). Walking past it I've just heard a tourist questioning the contents of the food being dispensed... Not querying whether it co...

Re: Free Speech....and all that stuff...

It should be a right of free speech to call Jo Brand an unfunny fat cxnt (which is a poor example, because she actually is an unfunny fat cxnt), but it should be illegal and punishable by death to poke her in the midriff whilst shouting "you fat cxnt". I uphold the right of Jo Brand to talk about d...

Free Speech....and all that stuff...

Can somebody explain what it is? Only I thought the idea was to work towards allowing people to pass their views and respect others (even if you heartily disagree with some)...but apparently not, because its' getting to the stage where folk are afraid to open their mouths. (Oh, btw latest P.C. upset...

Re: Ken Anderson - New Owner (Definitely. For Now ..... )

I would keep the thread open for when we get details of the last two sets of accounts. When Shaun Harvey said he had seen proof we had enough to money to see the season out, where did that money go? What he didn't say was if Ken hadn't put a block on it and refuse to pay his players or staff. Ken b...

Caught a bit of an old Les Dawson repeat tonight. The great man commented " I'd like to tell the politicians to go to hell; bu they're building it for us"
Hell wasn't built in a day then.

Tony Berry. Houghton Weaver, big Wanderers fan and my neighbour. Lovely bloke. RIP Aye, I read this very sadly. I lived in Howfen for ten years and heard Tony sing impromptu many a night in the Red Lion. Had this habit when singing of always having his hands behind his back or in the back pockets o...

Re: Tonight's Football

English girls beat Argentina (and the ref) 1-0 to top the group. Jill Scott was player of the match (is always in with a shout), but it was a close thing between her and the Argy goalie. She saved a penalty and made at least three/four other critical saves. Good display by our lasses against a typic...

Re: The next manager

A good time to get Mick McCarthy in if we intend getting back to glory. Apparently he's off from Ipswich and, if interested and affordable, the right credentials for me. .
Maybe Kev Nolan as under manager. At least both understand the word "fight".

Reports of David Lee being given the job by Football Ventures. Did wonder if his Wanderer podcast appearance was strategic. Thoughts?
Why can't we have a proper title owner/management, like Kentucky Fried Coconuts or Genco Olive Oil or summat? :|

I'll be having a look at the Oz women taking on Brazil at 5-0'clock tonight, which might produce a few fireworks. Watched France and Norway last night and although France are very good, the Norwegians were a bit unlucky to lose to a dodgy pen, 2-1, although their equaliser was an og by Reynard, the ...
