Re: Onwards and Downwards: 2020 transfer speculation thread.

Forest have such a scattergun approach to recruitment, management, etc. It's baffling. I'm reading Jonathan Wilson's book on Clough, Nobody Ever Says Thank You (bit long-winded, needs an editor, but that's Jonawils for you) and you wonder what Peter Taylor would have thought of their approach in rec...

33. I think reflective of the indelible blank most Bolton players have left on me the last few years.
Love the concept of an indelible blank.

As for James Henry, whom I’d also forgotten- that injury-time winner at home to Scunny makes him worth while.

Re: The sun never sets on the Brittas Empire.

Heaven forbid there should be a prompt resolution, barnet. What on earth would we have to speculate about then! Managers, players, fixtures... we'd manage :D Cheers DSB. I have an opening at Sam Spade Investigations if you send me your CV. :D Ooh, I've fancied being a private dick ever since watchi...

Re: Administration and recovery

And is he a legend? Dirk van Whatsisface? I can sort of remember him. Kuyt was very popular among Liverpool fans, who appreciated his graft. "Legend" might be pushing it a tad. But then, he's probably just this agent's most (UK-)famous client, and thus the best hook on which to hang the piece. Mean...

Re: The sun never sets on the Brittas Empire.

I've absolutely no evidence for it, but I reckon today will be the day the new owners are officially announced. But they said next week. I can't remember where they said it, but said it was by somebody. Just call me Sam Spade, no investigation too much trouble. Joint administrator Paul Appleton did...

Re: Administration and recovery

Hi Everyone, a potential interesting development, could they be involved in the FV bid ? https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/9343377/liverpool-dirk-kuyt-buy-bolton-league-one/ Could be Sunderland. Or Bury. Not sure quite why the Dutch media think it's us, unless Rob Jansen is the "football figu...

Probably deserves its own thread eventually but we’ve got Rochdale away in the League Cup.

Re: League One 2019/20

Hopefully we can start out like we did last time; possibly the only season in the last 10 years when we weren’t relegation zone / bottom of the league in September! Bit bored and a lot intrigued so I checked. Here's where we were on Sep 1st and Oct 1st of each year in the last decade; bright red ba...

Re: League One 2019/20

Hopefully we can start out like we did last time Know what you mean but presumably you mean four wins from the first four league games, rather than the seven winless games that followed: after losing at home to Oxford on October 1st we were still on 16pts, which this time might mean 1pt or worse......

Re: League One 2019/20

Am I correct in presuming we've never played Wycombe before? Were they in L2 last time we were in L1? Have we ever met them in the cup? Apparently not. Never played Accy either, unless you count their 1891-1966 incarnation, whom we played once in 1926 (FA Cup Third Round, went on to win the bleedin...

Re: League One 2019/20

All highly subjective of course, but here's Experimental361's visualisation of fixture difficulty (judging teams by bookmakers' odds). Difficult start (after Wycombe, which may well set the tone) but a relatively easier run-in... let's hope so. Screen Shot 2019-06-20 at 10.46.20.png https://twitter....

Re: League One 2019/20

The fixtures are out https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/17718560.bolton-wanderers-fixtures-for-the-201920-league-one-season/ Away to Wycombe on the opening day and away to Oxford on the final day. First home game is Coventry. So it starts and (probably) ends on the M40. I've been riding that roa...

League One 2019/20

Time rumbles on. Although the EFL haven't yet decided how much to bollock us for the Brentford no-show, tomorrow they'll be busy releasing the fixtures for the new season. So I thought we could start a thread on the oppoes - the sort which in previous seasons we might have called "We are hopefully s...

Re: The next manager

For what it's worth, I'm not convinced Parky did sign Oztumer. Or at least, I doubt he had a huge amount of input in it happening. If Parky didn't want him, it's a black mark against the manager. Statistically, one of the third tier's most creative midfielders; financially, available on a free. Suc...

...it seems fairly obvious to me that the (or rather some) fans hate Parkinson far more than the players seem to. 'Hate' might be too strong a word, but he's definitely frozen out some very solid players - players who would have reason to dislike him because of that. Reminds me of Dougie in that se...
