Re: The Politics Thread
No problem. The general public really don’t have much idea at all about how general practice is funded and it’s often the practices or GPs getting the blame for not working harder and just seeing more patients. Always happy to try and simplify the issues we’re working with.

Re: The Politics Thread
Yep. All businesses will struggle with the same. Majority have freedom to put prices up though to help a bit. Our income is dictated by the government who have stuck to their 2% which has left partners funding the extra through wage cuts and is making general practice unsustainable. Since my first c...

Re: The Politics Thread
And I fully accept that generally things are crap for patients at the moment. Access is poor. Waits are long. This action is about having a contract that allows those things to improve.

GPs proposing to strike. If no bugger can get in, who will notice? It’s not a strike. It’s working to the NHS contract and essentially pushing back on the extra unfunded work that is done, and to try and get an improved contract that covers the substantially increased costs in the last couple of ye...

40% of the Guyanese population are of Indian origin, so I assume support there might be quite high.

Re: Cricket World Cup
Milking the TV money is why we’re playing in Guyana at that time. The tournament schedule was fixed so that if India made the semi final they would be playing in the Guyana semi at that time as its prime time in India. Doesn’t matter what group they were in, or whether they were first or second. The...

If they want that as a rule, then fine. Just don’t have different rules for the other semi.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Wed Jun 26, 2024 10:12 amNot ideal, but if that was the rule we entered under, then the answer is "finish top of your group." I assume they read 'em.

Re: Cricket World Cup
Not sure what it is about the ICC and their ability to create their own problems. Rain is forecast in Guyana for Thursday. No reserve day has been scheduled. Rather than 5 overs in the group stages, it needs 10 overs per side to constitute a game. If the game is not completed, the rules state that t...

Re: Cricket World Cup
Buttler seems to be starting slower in the last 12 months. Not a problem if he stays in and accelerates, but innings like yesterday’s kill you in T20s. It’s why we got rid of Malan. Bairstow’s an opener. If he comes in outside the power play he struggles to get going. It’s not his game. We miss prop...

Re: Cricket World Cup
Another disappointing result though...something amiss in the short forms at the minute...a long way from any sort of dominance... Meh. I think that coach hasn’t been great. But equally I think we are probably one or two really top performers in this format short. Stokes would obviously help. But I ...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
There is imo a lack of realism in ‘make santos a better leader’. It doesn’t work like that. He’s in his late twenties has played no higher than this level (for good reason) and lacks the mental focus and concentration across a season and even within games. You can’t suddenly turn a switch or make h...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
The only way I think he leaves is if he realises that next year is going to be tougher, and his reputation is at a peak currently. He can walk away citing burnout, then would be attractive to suitors mid season after a refreshing break. From afar his CV is still impressive. Promotions with Barrow an...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
I wonder what effect Sam Hird leaving had? I know we went on that winning run immediately after he left, but after that we’ve fallen apart defensively really. I wonder how much of that winning run was still remembering his coaching rather than a reflection on the new guy. I’m just about in the Evatt...

God this is bad. Tempted to throw Vic and Dempsey on which might change our approach a bit and ask some other questions.
