Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread
You wait ages for a signing, then nine come along at once... Nine debut pro contracts signed by Julian's young Whites, who you imagine will now be the backbone of the B team. All 18, they've completed their two-year scholarships. . Screenshot 2025-07-01 at 17.51.00.png . Left to right: • forward Da...

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread
Some of the older players on that list would probably do a good job covering. I do wonder whether Owain Fon Williams would still be capable of stepping in should we need. Although he's 3 years since his last match so I don't think it'd be suitable.

Re: Are we up for the cups in 2025/26?
Happy with the cup draws. Rotherham's probably the least exciting of the bunch given we're already going to be playing them this season.
Oldham's a great draw given it's a lesser derby of sorts, but still North West based.

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread
Scottish rag the Daily Record report that Celtic have turned down a Bolton bid of £500k for their Irish striker Johnny Kenny. Sounds like signings for the future. Are we after a load of calculated gambles that may pay off as part of the business model? Was hoping we'd get someone tried and tested t...

Re: League One 25/26 - the Runners and Riders, or Schumacher's First Strike
Interesting start to the season.
We've got a tough start, that may give the backers a chance to rest on our laurels with what we've got or pull the trigger on signings if we seem to be struggling.
Tough start and tough end to the season. Gotta do the work when it counts and get good players in.

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread
The sun is out, we have coffee in the back garden, everything is fine with the world. No, I wouldn't go back to Dion, either. The notion that somehow Collins might have been any sort of upgrade, doesn't sit well and he certainly wasn't additive to Dion. I took DSB's "thought experiment" a bit furth...

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread
Was hoping for better from Aaron Collins. If he put in a shift every week he would clearly be good enough for the Championship. Alas was not to be. Thankfully we've not made a loss on him (lesson learned from Elmander days I guess). Still, we're short on quality up top. Dalby coming in is as blunt ...

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread
We're seemingly losing our player of the season to a club in a lower league. Normally i'd be shocked or disenfranchised at that news, but given Collins' efforts last season, i'm not surprised. I think we'd be right to sell him. Good finisher, but attitude wise the forwards were massively behind a te...

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread
I can't easily see a birthdate for Charlie Warren (at least not our one, as opposed to Spurs' young defender). He's widely described as 21; if his birthday was earlier this year, he's in his final underage season, but if it was in the second half of last year, he's overage. Don’t know if accurate b...

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread
Interesting signing is that Simons.
We need strong midfielders so hopefully he fits the bill.
Little concerning that he's only ever made 21 appearances in a league season. Hopefully that's just a case of not being first choice.

Re: Tonight's Football
So unwise. Not a pointless post season friendly. The pearls. I mean the performance Saturday was one of the worst I can remember. The football is awful. It was Southgate supposedly holding us back from being an exciting dynamic side yet it’s become more pedestrian and slower and duller since. Doesn...

Uriah Rennie: RIP
Uriah Rennie has unfortunately passed away, and while most wouldn't make the news, the fact that he was the first black referee in the Premier League has probably elevated the news. Rest In Peace. While a referee passing wouldn't usually garner a thread, I do have fond memories of his refereeing. It...

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread
We've been crying out for a target man that can do a job.
He's good enough for Parky. If we can get him in the SKD role we might actually be able to hold the ball up top for a change.

How's Brett Ormerod shaping up? He gonna be fit and ready to go for the start of next season?
Etete was for the here and now and Ormerod was for the future... right? right?

Was a good save from the keeper to be fair. Harsh goal from them to concede.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Fri May 09, 2025 3:31 pmGoal number 6 deserved a goal from the shot, rather than an oggie from coming back off the bar.
Still 6-0 after 70. Impressive.

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread
I think Rico and Geth going pretty much highlight the end of an era. Mainstays in all that was good in our promotion, cup win and play off runs. Sure both trailed off, but I would suspect that was due to lack of investment in our defensive line compared to the rest of the squad. Rico on his day was ...
