Re: Day after St Valentines day massacre? Bolton v Wycombe Home, Sat 15th Feb. 3-o'clock.

Parky is a good L1 and L2 manager, he has proved that throughout his career. He gets his team playing to a structure, generates a good spirit in the team, which is enough for a lot of clean sheets and unbeaten runs. Parky is a poor manager at championship level, he has proved that throughout his ca...

which is all fair enough, LE, and I certainly hope that we're savvy enough to have those discussions. It is, after all, business. However, I still think we come back to the problem of hiring a manager who can win promotion under embargo - or at least give it a good enough go to retain a following f...

Re: Day after St Valentines day massacre? Bolton v Wycombe Home, Sat 15th Feb. 3-o'clock.

I wasn't there today, but I heard it was dreadful, particularly in the 2nd half. My thoughts: - Whilst there are mitigating circumstances in terms of Hill fielding a consistently losing team, we seem to be losing without meaningfully impacting any of the games. We are consistently going 2-0 down in ...

Re: Not enough said Moore....

I am increasingly struggling to see how Hill fits into the direction FV want to take the club. A modern, data driven approach with a football director or equivalent, would usually involve an enterprising coach open to the latest methods and tactcics, and one that would encourage and improve younger ...

I wonder what the league table would look like if each half was 35mins?

So only 6 subs, but yet no Politic, Darcy, Zouma, Brockbank, Edwards.

Fall out with the home growns or coincidence?

Regardless, COYW

Re: Onwards and Downwards: 2020 transfer speculation thread.

Current window observations: - We were clearly determined to have six central defenders coming out of this window. - Not sure why we signed Thomason from level 9 and loaned him back out to level 7? - Personally not disappointed about losing out on Bridcutt. - Another attacker would be nice. - Squad ...

Re: Onwards and Downwards: 2020 transfer speculation thread.

Shame about Benny Ashley-Seal. He would've been ideal for us imho. A pacy forward player who can take some of the goalsoring burden from Murphy. I hope we now get Clough for the same reason. If the Beckles story is accurate, not sure why we are after more central defenders? Hobbs, Nsiala, Bryan, Edw...

Re: FV Recruitment Model

Vydra at £11m from Derby might be another to add to Burnley's small list of misses. Peterborough have probably been the best at getting players from non league/L2 and selling them on. Gayle, Assombalonga, Connor Washington, Ryan Bennett etc - but even for them that seems to be getting more difficult...

Re: FV Recruitment Model

This is very good news. Not only does it reaffirm FV's commitment, but it puts something stable in place that isn't dependent on the whims of the manager. Brentford's transfer dealings over the past few years has been phenomenal, bringing in £48m since 16/17, helping to pay for their new stadium, wh...

Re: Faal Mental Jackett - Pompey (H), 3:00pm, 18/01/2020

My thoughts: - In terms of the game, we were up against an experienced L1 team who knew how to do the basics well. There were good at set pieces, and worked hard. A bit like we were in 2016/17. We played some really good football, showed a lot of spirit, but didn't really look like scoring, and with...

Re: Onwards and Downwards: 2020 transfer speculation thread.

Here's a summat. This transfer embargo, I was chatting with Our Kid about it last night. I thought that we were still under it because it was imposed on us by the EFL for a specific period of time (this season for instance), however, he claims that we're still under it because all the creditors hav...

Re: Trotting over the Yellowbellies to three points - Lincoln City (A) 14/01/20

You were there and I wasn't, but "destroy" seems a touch Darth Vader for what seems a welcome but somewhat fortuitous victory. Stats aren't everything, but the shot count was 13-12 to them, possession was 48%-52% (that again!), passes 362v388, corners 5v4. Again, I would love to see more of those w...

Re: Trotting over the Yellowbellies to three points - Lincoln City (A) 14/01/20

I'm not sure about Hill's comments that the players aren't good enough. Matthews, Emmanuel, Nsiala, L.Murphy, Dodoo, D.Murphy are top half L1 players, players that should form the basis of a promotion pushing side. Hamilton has L1 experience. Darcy is a real prospect who is being talked about as int...

Re: Trotting over the Yellowbellies to three points - Lincoln City (A) 14/01/20

He seems to have a gift for losing a potentially successful formula. After Bristol Rovers and Fleetwood, we looked good. Then he brought Bridcutt into a midfield that didn't have room for him. Then Earl looked really promising at either CB/LB and we let him go. We end up experimenting with 5ft 7in B...

Re: Trotting over the Yellowbellies to three points - Lincoln City (A) 14/01/20

🤣we’ve tried 3 out there this game! Might bring me boots on Saturday. Bizarre that this was seen as a better solution than offering Chicksen a 1, 3 or 6 month contract Or Earl. Earl has looked decent at both CD and LB. Then we let our other LB leave, then a long piece in the BEN saying Zouma is wea...
