Quick thought.

If we went back-4 and signed Ashworth, are people then happy with that one?
I'm happy with Ashworth generally. He's mostly done well when he's played.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

On Ogbeta, if you tell me he's effectively number 2, he's young and I assume they think coachable, I'm sorta ok (albeit he seems much more LW than WB). Undoubtedly games where the defensive side might be less paramount where he can get game time... I'm generally happy with Randall, but he looks lik...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

I'd like to see the following: Improvement on backup keeper. He got better over time, but I don't trust him if Baxter is out for more than the odd game. A couple of wing backs that aren't half arsed in defence, whilst offering something going forward. 2 midfielders. 1 that will get about and help Th...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?

I'm a little conflicted as I probably land somewhere near Pru in that we're not far away with a some personnel changes and a different approach/setup. It would be easy to say go now as the not showing up has happened far too frequently. If the mantra is more but better than he can go for me. If he's...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

Genuinely gutted Santos, Jones and the likes have another year on their deals. That’s the backbone (or lack of it) we need out of the club. If we went to a back 4 and Johnstone comes back the same player, then the likes of Santos could become backups, which might prompt them to leave anyway. The pl...

Its the manner of some of the defeats this season rather than the defeat itself.

Thankful to have been working and missed it. had it on my PC and stuck my head round the office door to check the score every now and then. Even from that I could tell it was going to be a summary of our season minus the good bits. A lot of work to be done this summer...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

The way I look at it is if (touch wood) an injury happened to someone from the top group would you be reasonably happy with the replacement from the 2nd group playing week in week out for 3 months. On that basis in the Championship: ..........Charles Collins......... Williams Thomason Dempsey JDC .....

What type of midfielder is he Ghost? Welcome back btw :) Thomason sort, I suppose. Really committed, runs all day and technically solid. Particularly good in the box on attacking set pieces. Easy to like. Fans never seem to have a bad word to say about him and he's popular with staff/players. Has a...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

First "proper" rumour of the summer is George Byers, who just left Sheff Weds on a free after a loan at Blackpool. A midfielder who used to play in Swans' U23s with Josh Sheehan. Quite a few games in the Championship, but with a history of niggly injuries. Played a major part for Wednesday in Leagu...

Bloody stupid setting arbitrary things like that. You play him and if he's worth his place you play him again. I get you want to give game time to younger players but that isn't incompatible with him playing games when in form.
