<snip> I don't find your child-related analogy convincing either. That's a question of emotional develpment more than physical development. Just out of interest then, what age does a child have to be before you are prepared to smoke next to them? I would suggest they would have to be an adult, not ...

these cocks of landlords who "want their day in court" are misguided and no doubt misadvised. The tobacco industry is happy to cough up a few grand but the landlords will get nowhere, it's an open and shut case, the law itself doesn't have to be justified, all that has to be shown is it being broke...

I don't have any real appetite for this debate anymore, as I'm afraid I am prepared to recline in the smug and selfish knowledge that the new law represents my interests and prejudices quite well, so I'm happy. When my plane touched down at Stansted this morning and the pilot announced (after it ha...

Gertie won't be pleased - Garcia going in the other direction... Neither am I. Nor am I too pleased about the fact Torres (in English, Towers) is commanding £90,000 per week but there you go. Thing is, though, if you're paying that money for him then you have to pay him those wages. Puts him up on ...

I was watching Patty Schnyder v Justine Henin today. I think Patty is very attractive. Justine Henin looks a bit like Darren Anderton and she has no chest, has anyone noticed that? Surely she has a chest? Otherwise, wouldn't her heart and spleen just spill out onto the court? And that would be mess...

One argument I keep hearing in favour of the ban is that pubs will now be far more pleasant for people to take children into. Is this meant to be a good thing? The last thing I want, when I go for a pint, is a room full of mewling f*&^ing brats. I'd rather have a room full of smoke. And I'm a non-sm...

The Stranglers. "Gordon Brown, texture like sun...." It'll be the new national anthem in a few weeks.......... Indeed, as an entire nation turns to (by then taxable) smack! You cynic, you! Just remember - "Never a frown, with Gordon Brown". Possibly.... More seriously, tonight I have been to a pop ...

You sure? Looks more like a Volkswagen to me! Flippin' 'eck - read the post - it was shot from the Metro - obviously in front of the Volkswagen in the picture.... He's not used to your subtle brand of humour yet Soldier. :P Sorry - I should have added a smiley - I just don't like them... I did real...

I've bought a couple of bottles of Bulmers cider with which i'm hoping to blot out the Who's entire set on Sunday evening. Iggy Pop and the Stooges might be worth watching today if their performance on the Jonathon Ross show is anything to go by. I watched most of it through my fingers. Ha! I saw I...

Bellamy is more of a tw*t to be honest, causes trouble wherever he goes. Shearer HATES Bellamy, after those abusive text messages Bellamy sent to him, so he can hardly condone Newcastle signing him back. Sure, but what the feck has it got to do with him as to whether or not Allardyce should sign hi...

In this morning's Guardian, in a report about how City may well be appointing Sven as their new manager, there's a reference to "Thaksin's advisors at the stockbrokers Seymour Pierce [surely that should be "see less Pearce?"], led by the former Football League chairman Keith Harris". Have they got t...

hang on hang on hang on hang on........ no quotes What do you mean no quotes? Sky Sports News have just had a quote from Henry's agent, describing the story as "absolute rubbish" - which is harsh, as I thought it was quite a good one. I suppose this means we won't get to see Inzaghi partnering Vaz ...

Anelka to Arsenal! OK, let's get this right - Anelka to Arsenal, to replace Henry, who's off to Barcelona, to replae Eto'o, who's going to Milan. Presumably to replace the Wanderers-bound Inzaghi! Marvellous. It has a nice circularity to it. And before anybody says "no quotes", how about: "I'm look...

I'll always remember that world cup. It was the 1st time I was old enough to care that England broke my heart. (I was only 9 in 86, and the games were only on here in spanish, felt a little disconnected) The other reason was it was the 1st time I got to 2nd base. (That would be touching a woman's (...
