Re: The Politics Thread
Looking for love in all the wrong places. The problems have long since ceased to be political. They're deeply rooted in economics and a failing system. Yet time after time average Joe gets told it's his / her fault. It's racists, it's liberals, it's Putin, it's war, it's pandemics, it's wage demands...

Re: The Politics Thread
Privatisation. What a failure it's generally been. Like most of the policies prevalent in the 1980's. Sell "the people" something they owned in the first place, on the basis that private business would just throw money at it, because they're philanthropic. Watch as the corporates take divvies each y...

TBF (and it was tongue in cheek), think I said I could see similar too. I mean it's all relative, but decent for us yesterday.

Re: Race to the tape: 2024's League One promotion campaign
Great result if and only if we can take advantage. Given recent results, I have serious doubts. Obviously hoping I will be proven spectacularly wrong this time next week. It’s certainly a huge boost. We’ve hit the fabled international break rest we’ve been talking about for so long and had the mass...

On a slightly different tract and as not much of a "royalist," maybe the fcuking worms will give the woman a break now. The public interest and the public are interested clearly gets mixed up somewhere.

Yup. I've finally been persuaded of something by Farage/Anderson (not)
Wasn't even aware they'd mentioned it (but not surprised that they may have)
I also wasn't enamoured with other obvious alterations. No need.

Re: Financiers, investors and white knights: What next for FV?
What generally happens is, one division up, becomes less sustainable, because you still chase "success" and the numbers are larger. I dunno where this notion of "sustainable" at football actually lives (outside of bottom end L1/top end L2 type scenario. If we head up the leagues, we need investment ...

Ridiculous. But the notion that it's been picked by Nike is probably only partially correct. Some dick in the FA has sanctioned it.

Re: Not exactly a Derby. Away to The Rams, Sat 16th March 3-0'clock.
I think we certainly need to play the odds that if we won all 7 we'd give ourselves the best chance :-) Not to do so, would be pretty dumb - I think you only consider maybe resting a player for the playoffs is when they're the only alternative and you have a home tie second. There's 24 points to pla...

Re: Not exactly a Derby. Away to The Rams, Sat 16th March 3-0'clock.
I don't think many are saying we shouldn't collect and use data and analysis. That would be pretty dumb on our part. But, that doesn't (for many) act as some sort of "how good are we?" proxy, whereas the thing that always tells you how good you are in a League, is how far up it you finish and what y...

Re: Not exactly a Derby. Away to The Rams, Sat 16th March 3-0'clock.
The weekend ended up being longer than I thought. What a sh1t result to come home to. Have no idea where that leaves us as a team mentally but I think the auto's could potentially be byond us now unless one of the top two suddenly collapses AND we suddenly catch fire. Mate, you have to say. Lost th...

Re: Not exactly a Derby. Away to The Rams, Sat 16th March 3-0'clock.
Evatt ‘we are process and performance driven not results driven.’ Yeah that’s the problem. Maybe they will award us the process and performance trophy at the end of the season. Does it come with an extra promotion place? Not a surprise to hear that from Evatt. However, he clearly does not understan...

Re: Not exactly a Derby. Away to The Rams, Sat 16th March 3-0'clock.
I wont analyse the obvious. We played well. Somehow I am not too disappounted as I would normally be with a loss because from what I saw, we gave our all against a top team above us playing at their home. I was proud of the effort. Take a few days off, rest, recover and reset. Get into the mindset ...

Re: Not exactly a Derby. Away to The Rams, Sat 16th March 3-0'clock.
And the thing that makes me most annoyed is we sound like Wengers Arsenal after we’d sent them back from the Reebok in the good old days. The ‘but we played the better football’ losers. And I always detested Wenger’s Arsenal. The last thing I want us to be is that. Look mate, we can't help you foot...

Re: Rugby Union
Brilliant game, England fought the good fight but gave France too much ball. We handed it to them on a plate with penalties. Ramos missed what, one out of six? . It was almost a repeat of the under 19's last night....almost. Yeah, although we never did get to see a replay of the last one, that won ...

Pretty good account if ourselves, even in a narrow defeat. Was certainly a game of four halves.

Re: Race to the tape: 2024's League One promotion campaign
Next season, Rotherham and Sheff Weds are currently looking likely...then a bit of a cluster with some fairly chunky names in it. I suspect you're right that it feels a chunk more problematic next season.

Some comfort. The Seymour's get the wooden spoon. Congrats to Ireland on 6 Nations Champs but no Slam and no Triple Crown. Just France England left, would be a decent statement were England to win, but that still looks a big ask, away...
