Re: Making HMS YouKnowWhat ship-shape: Winter 20/21 transfer thread

I'm not ITK or owt, but an apparent reliable poster on WW has said today that 2 deals are done for another midfielder & a defender. Perhaps they will sign in the next 24 hours ?, but the guy has said that the deals are done. We will obviously have to wait & see but it sounds encouraging. Glad we're...

Re: Exeter Expects. Exeter City v Bolton (A) - 19:00 - 12th Jan

No, I genuinely hope you’re not turned away. I’m genuinely sorry you’re not enjoying it. I’d genuinely love to see you enjoy yourself. After all, I’ve not seen it very often in a decade or so on this site. :D “Pit of existence” is an interesting phrase. Existence is the key, I suppose. Our club nea...

Re: Exeter Expects. Exeter City v Bolton (A) - 19:00 - 12th Jan

Each to their own. We when equalised at Barrow I yelled so loud I could barely talk for a day. Goals are exciting. They're also more likely with more shots. That's all. We're 17th in the bottom division and 16 of the teams in that division have scored more goals than we have......are you really try...

Re: Exeter Expects. Exeter City v Bolton (A) - 19:00 - 12th Jan

“If you want entertainment, go to the circus”? Nobody’s saying attractive losing football is better than unattractive winning football. Because that’s daft. What I’m saying is that if my team only shoots twice in a game, it isn’t much fun as if they shoot 20 times. But yeah, the worst of all worlds...

Re: Exeter Expects. Exeter City v Bolton (A) - 19:00 - 12th Jan

Gnahoua has impressed me before in bursts. I think the issue for him is a) he's clearly best as a wide forward type in a 433 or similar setup and b) if he had anything like the ability to replicate his cameos on an even semi consistent basis he'd probably not be here. Still he's one I think offers t...

Re: Exeter Expects. Exeter City v Bolton (A) - 19:00 - 12th Jan

I think it’s fair to say they have worked out our weaknesses! I’d get Mascoll on cos I think brockbanks a red card waiting to happen. Good idea. And he should see it as his last chance. How many chances has Mascoll had? Nine appearances, of which six were 20+ minutes and three were 70+ Last chance ...

Re: Exeter Expects. Exeter City v Bolton (A) - 19:00 - 12th Jan

If Evatt goes 352 and we lose he's done for me, I want to believe he knows what he's doing but there isn't a lot to back it up. We could/should have switched to a 433 months ago and I suspect a good manager would have started the season like that with the players we have. The 352 is ridiculous, we ...

Re: Exeter Expects. Exeter City v Bolton (A) - 19:00 - 12th Jan

Just heard Evatt interview and he’s absolutely spot on. Country in lockdown in worst position it’s ever been in since start of pandemic...Bolton Wanderers travelling down to Devon on a coach and staying in a hotel. Ludicrous. Absolutely mental. How is this allowed?

Re: The Politics Thread

But essentially people who don’t like stuff like a lockdown can find an easy answer on social media...it’s all a hoax, it’s just a bad flu, it’s a conspiracy etc etc...and convince themselves and others in their network that it’s all true,..I mean if all you see is nutters telling you it’s all lies...

Re: Making HMS YouKnowWhat ship-shape: Winter 20/21 transfer thread

Kioso in my opinion has been our most effective player so far this season. Tough loss for us. No like for like replacement in the squad but fortunately with Broky, Jones and Hickman we have coverage. John's injury another kick in the teeth. We are paying for someone's sin in the past apparently. Se...

Declan John injury confirmed by Ilesy - "could be out for a month" https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/19002104.swansea-city-loanee-declan-john-injured-eve-bolton-debut-exeter-city/ It’s bad news but Evatt himself acknowledges this is the risk of signing players in January who haven’t been playin...

Re: Exeter Expects. Exeter City v Bolton (A) - 19:00 - 12th Jan

Well with John now out it’s a return to square pegs in round holes, particularly if we keep to a back 3. My pick would be a back four with Santos risked as an auxiliary centre half alongside Delaney. I’d have Hickman and Isgrove in the wide positions, Tutte, Lee and Sarce, with Doyle up top. I susp...

Re: Making HMS YouKnowWhat ship-shape: Winter 20/21 transfer thread

Very disappointing. But that's football. You loan players with a recall clause and it can happen. I'd not even bother with a right back. 4 at the back is now an imperative, Brockbank or Jones are adequate there. Get another striker in and another wide player (arguably need 2). Aye. No point getting...

Re: The Politics Thread

Sadly I fear social media is a conduit for a return to the 1920s and 30s because once again it amplifies easy answers to the worlds problems. We’ve had since 2000 two relatively difficult decades, rise of terrorism, global recession caused by the very financial institutions the boomers placed all th...

Re: Season 20-21

I'm at a point where I have to say I don't really know or understand why football is continuing. It was reported that inspite of the entire Villa first team and coaching staff being in isolation their FA Cup tie with Villa will go ahead tonight - with Villa's teenagers playing the fixture. How is t...
