Re: General Chit Chat

Now is the time to pray before you go to bed. Much can be gained with nothing to lose. I urge you to spare just a few minutes to pray it will end soon. Think of all the poor kids in the world. Laugh at me if you will, but as a lifetime Christian, I believe. You should too. Pray to God who is mightie...

Re: COVID-19/20 season

Bolton furloughed lots of staff today. And warning of job losses. Not good. Yet the premiership are still hell bent on protecting their season. Clubs like ours probably won't exist by the time we can raise significant income by selling STs for the next season. But so long as the big boys get to comp...

Re: COVID-19/20 season

Nothing before the 30th April now at the earliest. ...which means our first game might be at Oxford, Prufrock... (Except I doubt we'll be allowed out.) In other moves: from their side, FIFA are happy to relax the "June 30" contract-ending rules, to allow potential flexibility to finish seasons. The...

Re: General Chit Chat

Excuse me, do you not have a fridge or freezer or do you just buy odd bits and dine out/take away? something not right about this, a critical care nurse bursting into tears over no veg hardly inspires you with confidence. Currys are currently out of stock of fridge freezers due to reprehensible, se...

Re: General Chit Chat

First delivery slot available on Tesco - 7th April. Asda crashed. Local shop completely out of milk, bread, cleaning products etc. This is fcuking barmy Morrison’s Harwood has closed for refurb for three days. Opens again tomorrow I think. Might be worth going first thing if desperate as presumably...

Re: General Chit Chat

My 69 year old neighbour informed me (laughingly) today that he could go out clubbing tonight if he wished whilst I must isolate myself. I told him to brush up on his semaphore as we should avoid directs speech contact. (He then went to the shop to pick a couple of items up, for us like the rest of...

Re: COVID-19/20 season

If anyone believes the season to begin again in August should give this a bit more thought. I can't see this virus disappearing in time for a new season, It could take over a year for this to clear and safe for folk to mix again. Life as we knew it doesn't exist and wont for a while yet. I won't vi...

Re: COVID-19/20 season

Starting where we left off, reduced break and pre season, condense next season? I can hear Pep, Klopp and co with the 50 man squads squeal now... Every answer has a counter problem. And theres the rub. Whichever way they jump someone's going to be hugely pissed off. For me I'd stop this season wher...

Re: General Chit Chat

Oh and the bit about herd immunity....The government expert says 60% of the population would need to get COVID-19 to gain herd immunity. That's around 40m people - even with a mortality rate of 1%, that's a whole host of "collateral damage" if the mortality rate is that low - 400,000 - against "nor...

Re: General Chit Chat

I can't say he caught my attention but no doubt a case in point, Bruce. I did notice, as an example, Jeremy Hunt. One assumes he hasn't been party to any of the decision making process but it didn't stop him seizing the opportunity to get his face back on the tele. It's not a party political issue,...

Re: COVID-19/20 season

The other problem they're going to have, is not everyone will come out of the other side at the same time (for their European competitions) - they've picked an arbitrary date, but at that juncture, Spain might be full on whilst England hasn't really kicked off...Who knows But similar at the microco...

Re: What are you watching tonight?

Fleabag is the best TV programme I've seen for years. But you don't like Iron Maiden so all your opinions are invalid. I've no strong opinion on Iron Maiden as the last thing I heard of theirs was about 1981. Run to the hills, number of the beast? I assume they've done something else since then as ...

Re: COVID-19/20 season

Miles, miles more chance of legal trouble if they just end the season now than if they cook up some other method and push that through. Whatever happens will be a bodge job, but it doesn't have to be a botch job too. By "least impact on League" you appear to be ignoring the possibility of them gett...

Re: COVID-19/20 season

I must admit, I can't see beyond Insane's scenario above. If footy is immediately played after the current suspension ends, then we're still likely to run well into June and the issues that brings with it - cancelling Euros, extending playing contracts etc I think it's more likely that the suspensi...

Re: COVID-19/20 season

I don't think they could declare the season null and void. As a minor thing, what do they do with playing records etc? What they could do is abandon the season and call it finished as-is; there'd be a gap for cup winners etc – imagine the legal fights over prize money unawarded, to go with the ones...
