Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

Worth saying that JDB is a player I really liked on a number of levels. He added loads when he first arrived and bar injuries I think would have continued to do so. He just was unlucky with injuries.

One of the good guys. And will be missed I think.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

We conceded very few goals the season before but we had Bradley who defensively is premier league level, when he didn’t play Jones would play there who is a more defensive option, often Iredale on the left till he got injured another sort of defensive type. We had a more physical shield for the back...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?

Nobody associated with the football club is happy right now. I wouldn’t expect them to be. That’s not in doubt and I suspect the board are saying we simply have to go up. Financially last season promotion really was imperative and in not doing it next season becomes massively pressurised from the o...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?

We had. Strong start last season. I wouldn’t be suckered in by a start. It’s when the real tests come round and the pressure cranks up. That’s when we will find out. Rotherham away mid November for example would be the sort of ‘yeah this will tell us which way it’s going ‘.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

Why is our press much more ineffective than oxfords It's not. At the start of the season we were far and away the best pressing outfit. Where that fell down was when we lost Dion and Vic. None of the replacements could do the work. Without one key pressing player it worked, without both it didn't. ...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?

Looking across at ours and WW's polls. I think the tally whilst strongly against, as you'd expect maybe, after Saturday has absolutely narrowed but is still roughly 50/50. 115 for go and 114 stay, across the two. The arguments for and against are pretty similar, probably as you'd expect, but I just...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

Who is saleable then? Can we cash in on Santos, Sheehan, Thomason, or Charles to plug the gaps we need in mentality? I’m with Insane at the moment, if that’s the squad for next season it’s not getting top 6, never mind top 2. Too many opposition managers have worked out how to play against us. Prob...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

There is no good reason to play 3 at the back, bottom line is we can recruit into a 4131 far more easily it suits more of our players and even if you say the main ones it doesn’t suit are Charles and Santos…both of those might not be here…… If Evatt is manager he's shown before he actually prefers ...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?

I think you're saying, probably doesn't get in the way of us, but might hinder his personal development in future. If that's correct, then I genuinely don't care. I was starting to get images of him sitting 13 round a table for the pre-match and making them say Grace... I don't think it hinders us ...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?

^^ Gotta be honest, although I want him gone, this non-story doesn't tilt the needle for me and whilst I could try and build a "here's what I reckon," I don't actually know first hand what goes on, but for me the reason he has to go, remains as "fecked it up royally and spinelessly." One thing he d...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?

But I think over time I’ve realised that Evatt’s particular ego is a front to cover up his own self doubt. Did the self-help books and "Jesus needs me to be in the Premier League" not give it away to you on day one? Doubt is healthy. Avoiding it is the weakness. If Evatt can stop avoiding it it'll ...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

I think one thing that has been demonstrated beyond any reasonable doubt is that as good an egg as Cogley is he is in no way up to being a regular RWB for a side with ambitions of exiting league one in a positive direction. I like him. I think he never lets you down. But looking at the league next ...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

What better players to have on the bench than DBV and Jerome? Surely both had one more season in them? With Ogbeta and Mahoma in the balance, what a great way to start building a squad by removing the foundations? Badly done I.E..I'm hesitant about in/out now. ae:) ae:) Maghoma isn’t in the balance...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

Same applies to Conor Carty, so we’ll see. I wrote a whole thing and deleted it for being a bit self-indulgent, but the basic gist was that we are likely to have budget issues this season after the fan loan splurge and may therefore need to patch the squad up and make do. Cogley was in the TotY, so...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

Confirmed that Bod, Jerome and Declan John have been released. M Mistake number one Mr Evatt........in my humble opinion of course. :( ae:) ae:) Which is the mistake? I can’t see any argument for keeping any of the three. I really liked BOD as a player, but he’s always injured, takes an age to get ...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?

Nobody seems to be contradicting the tale. What it shows to me is something I’ve believed for a while. I mean you don’t need this silly ‘spat’ to be included in this. We’ve all encountered people like Evatt, big egos a bit arrogant. It’s par for the course with a lot of football managers. But I thin...

Meanwhile we haven't even produced a retained list. Hope this period of soul-searching doesn't delay everything for too long.
I doubt much is going on. People will be on holidays. Am sure a retained list will follow.

Sarcevic has had his say on his departure. These failings out happen but if what he says is true….
