Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm

Fitted for suits. Like it's a jolly day out. This lack of focus is why we'll never get anywhere. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-berkshire-69010555 Oh hang on that's them. Can you pin a video to a wall? In 99 didn’t Watford go for a jolly day out and all get fitted suits too whilst we trea...

Nothing has topped Port Vale away in 2017 or whatever it was. Nor the joyous pitch invasion the game after.

Ultimately you can have all the great aways you like but seasons need the success at the end of them to be one you will remember in years to come.

Re: Five Year EFL Deal: Death of the 3pm?

Not sure the timing of this is great - If she highly vocal of the Greed of the Premier League clubs and is calling them out, she's also calling out the EFL board who pander to the PL clubs and bend to their will every time. With a play off final around the corner, and with the powerful reach of the...

Re: Five Year EFL Deal: Death of the 3pm?

Put this here as it's about the wider football "settlement" but I see Shazza has had some pretty strong words for the parliament select committee dealing with the proposed new regulator, about the "greed" of the big clubs. I think she's right, though I found her extremely trying. She was asked conc...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm

This season has been weird. Despite scoring 121 goals, I haven't actually found it that enjoyable! On the flip side, despite me moaning (more than most) than our profligate finishing and dubious defending, this is genuinely one of the nicest squads we've had. It'd be a shame to break it up and I th...

The ‘we always feck it up’ goes back way further than post Allardyce! I remember being told similar decades before that - the 80’s were not - time where you often found positive Bolton fans!

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm

Even though I'm looking forward to the day, I'm not confident of a victory at all. I see it as a genuine 50/50 at this point and if I were a neutral I'd probably be having a bet on Oxford at the prices. The weather is also looking quite bad - thunder storms currently forecast for just before kick-o...

They might have larger numbers on the day, but they'll all be day trippers, asking folk to sit down and be quiet so they can watch the show. The quality of our support will be better, as long as we don't go behind! :-) Yeah exactly. Our support was as good as any supporters ever have been last week...

All the conversation does is highly how absolutely essential it is we do go up. But I suppose ‘twas ever thus.

Dunno what your actual gripe is, mate?
Just the yoof ballooning about how many we have sold vs Oxford. I mean we all knew we’d not be selling this out and Oxford probably would. They have lower attendances sure. But a big catchment area for a day out and it’s far easier and cheaper for them.

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm

The nonsense about ticket sales is already doing my nut in. Oxford will sell out because it’s a city with a load of people who like Plymouth will come along for a day trip. You have a large area to draw from. And it’s about an hour to get there using public transport. And costs a fraction of what it...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm

Aye. It ace if we win, shite if we don’t. I Don’t look back on the Watford one with much positivity! Watford scarred me for life. That group of players was full of ability but we couldn’t defend well enough and we also had a habit of inexplicably not turning up. Both happened at Wembley against wha...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

I’m all for better wing backs but they don’t stop the goals we are conceding. The back three are making mistakes. Every single game. Stopping that would stop the goals to an extent but they also at times need a proper midfield screen. That has been absent and better sides have exploit it. Sheehan is...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

If we go up and Jones Santos Toal are our starting Centrebacks, we will come right back down. One out of the 3 plus 2 better quality CBs as starters are needed for the Championship. Toal, Santos and Johnston would be the starters. I think that’s probably a Championship quality group. Honestly I thi...

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet

Sir James of Burnley has announced his last test....v West Indies in a decision, I suspect Stokesy and McCullum have helped him with. To be honest, I might have tried to stick with him until he'd managed to depose the final Aussie, but it's been taking quite a while. What a player he's been for Eng...

Hmm, Worthy wants someone a bit more solid. I prefer Randall defensively, suspect Bradley might cost a few quid, but Ogbeta for me doesn't bother nearly enough defensively..
Much of this will simply depend on the league we are in.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

Given we very clearly have conceded too many goals this season I’d say next season whatever happens that is where we need to fix. Midfield in terms of its ability to stop teams and the back three in terms of its defensive concentration and general ability to keep the ball out. If we want to be promo...
