Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
Yes Allardyce lost three semi finals. Next season he fixed it though and with a far less prestigious squad. And I mean those three semis were off the back of his first half season. Evatt has build this squad up to his exact need. And I’m not having an Ainsworth or a Parky or any experienced manager...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
Last para. Can't see that happening because he won't believe it, so even if he tried, it would be difficult to pull off and there are almost certainly better managers for any lock, stock and barrel scenario ( by which I mean, if you changed to everyone's favourite witch, hoofball, there's certainly...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
Would a Gareth Ainsworth or similar sort side ever go to a play off final and fail to register a shot on target? I can’t imagine it. Even when his side were a lowly underdog I doubt that would happen. I respect some people seem heavily invested in style. But it can’t be something we hide behind. The...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
I get all the ‘tactical talks’ and it is a weakness. But fundamentally I think it’s Evatts character that’s the underlying problem. I don’t think he’s got that fire to drive him on to do every little thing to squeeze every little result out. He talks about performances and process but I think there ...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
Another option - see if we can tempt Cook out of Chesterfield and get Bolton old boy Richardson back as his assistant.
Again experience there if getting out of this league.

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
The only player we had who was up for the midfield fight was Thommo who barged into Brannagan early doors. Sheehan visibly wilted as soon as he realised he was going to be in a scrap. I watched him on the replay and he did exactly that. Hide in Harris’ shadow. I’m not a fan and haven’t been most of ...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
LOL @ "the usual nonsense". Aye, there's certainly loads of that about. "WHAT DO WE WANT?" "SOMEONE NEW!" "WHO SHALL WE HIRE?" "DUNNO!"   "I think you'll find it's not my role to comment on the details of the thing I've held forth about at length. In summary, Something Mus...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
If Evatt is staying – and I think he probably is – I want to see a call to arms soon. We've thrown away a massive opportunity and all we're left with, at the moment, is a 'baffled' Evatt and a hiding captain. Ain't a good look. Get building for the summer so we don't get left behind. I suspect we'l...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
It's a lot harder (but not impossible) to change it in game. But he said they knew what Oxford were going to do, prepped for it, and wasn't surprised. So either they got the prep wrong (tried to do the wrong thing), or tried to do the right thing but the players weren't up to it. Either way that's ...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
I suspect that these days, if we tried to hire a manager whose experience in this country amounted to a title win two divisions below our station and a humiliatingly hubristic failed play-off attempt a division below us three years previously, fans would be seriously underwhelmed. Unless of course ...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
Yeah it's both true that we were awful, and that they absolutely nailed it. Could see the plan and they got it bang on. And thereby hangs the tale Pru, you could see it, I could see it, and the bulk of thirty thousand Whites supporters could see it: Why couldn't Ian Evatt? Send for Sherlock... :sho...

Re: Moving on: Forward March.
It’s not one game though. It’s two full seasons. He’s had ample time to change - the failures and weaknesses have been pointed out ad nauseum in that time. Why should anyone believe there is anything to suggest he’s going to change now all of a sudden? I don’t believe he knows how even if he was wil...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
Common sense seems to be overhauling passion. Change is needed and I think he must know it, , but not the manager, just his mind. ae:) ae:) Can we think of one example where a longstanding manager has failed in multiple seasons with a team and squad entirely built by themselves - has suddenly chang...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
Aye, mebbes. 54% now. Still wondering who the new Rioch is. Best suggestion seems to be a bloke whose four most recent Champo seasons ended in 14th, 9th, 16th and 16th before he got fired in 20th. Not the most Bruce record. Maybe we were just very very lucky to have Bruce Rioch, and indeed Sam Alla...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
We’ve been a laughing stock at Wembley twice now. Not sure which performance was worse… maybe Saturday is still too raw. Both equally as bad, though Saturdays more unforgivable given how important a game that was and how badly it impacts the club and its fans. In terms of misery Saturday wins by a ...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
We got a lot of people laughing about us when we had Allardyce. We didn't really care. We didn’t. We were the team they didn’t want to play. They might have not liked us but it was because we were good and they hated that. I really want to see us be that horrible ruthless club that everyone hates b...

Oxford singing about us on their open top bus parade. One of the worst things is how much of a laughing stock Evatt has made of us. You're not telling me you're rattled by a chant :conf: No - but I don’t like being the club that people poke fun at. We used to be the club poking fun at Leeds etc. Ha...
