Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet

If there's one thing the third umpire could check all of without slowing things down its fecking no balls.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Gribbin was absolutely class for me on football manager a couple back. So there's that.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Do we know whose decision giving Edwards 3 years was? He looked far better than Zouma to me (though I think Zouma is a total donkey so not hard) but that's a lot for a 23 year old with not a lot of games. Was Phoenix involved then? Don't think he'd played much under Hill when he signed it.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

He doesn't seem to fit for me. Seems like a good guy to have around and other managers clearly value his versatility and seen to trust him to do a job. But Evatt has talked several times about recruitment being position specific.

I don't think there will be much room for generalists.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

By my fag packet maths since he moved to England from Scotland in 2013 has spent all but two years in the north (Chesterfield, Preston, Oldham and Bradford) and only 6 months of that time away (the last six months) was on a permanent contract. At the kind of money you get in the bottom two tiers (an...

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

It's an interesting one for sure. Though you'd think that would apply even more so a league below with a bottom 6 budget. Interesting that Joel Dixon Barrow's keeper predated Evatt there. He might happen to be good with his feet anyway but he didn't do a Guardiola getting rid of Joe Hart immediately...

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

I certainly wouldn't be upset if he stayed, and with a lot traditional approach I think he'd be close to the top of the list to try to keep, I just think his weaknesses (decision making with balls over the top and distribution) are likely to be highlighted with this style.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Emmanuel is more of a wingback than a fullback, so he might suit Evatt’s system (similar also to Bunney on the left?). Whether Evatt/Phoenix think we can do better is another question. Buyer’s market. I agree but I think there's so much turnover I think there's a huge bias for getting in two or thr...

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Emmanuel and Dodoo I reckon are both good shouts. V unsure about Matthews for the style.. It's going to be a high line and need good, quick decision making on when to come out and he was fecking disastrous at that every single time I saw him last season.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Not sure there are huge differences between that and FFP which (at least certain versions) I think allow you to invest in e.g. academies/stadia. The problem with investment is is almost always going to be in transfer fees and the big kicker wages. Then what happens if an owner pulls out and you stil...

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

I’m not sure giving away his budget is the most sensible thing to do??? £1.5m is the mooted D4 salary cap, which Iles mentions in the previous sentence and presumably did so in his question to Phoenix. He's not giving anything away except that we'll be offering wages as good as anyone in the divisi...

Re: Contract expiry

Given all this Barrowcelona business I wouldn't be surprised if we're sniffing around some of the City kids. You're probably looking at the more 18y end of the scale, or ones who haven't caught fire elsewhere but it has to be attractive for City to have a relatively big club playing that kind of foo...

Re: Contract expiry

It's not always clear cut I guess though. Hill fancied him and preferred ball players at the back. Plus another Phoenix signing. And the similarly huge Dan Burn has been a mainstay for Graham Potter's Brighton this year (Potter and Phoenix in the same post). Haven't seen him so no idea but height do...

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Given a how important the "system" seems to be, that it took a full season at Barrow to get them up to speed, that managers like it anyway and especially the "patterns of play" types (see Sarri and Jorginho, Rogers and Joe Allen) I wouldn't be surprised to see us after the ones we can go after. Gues...

Re: Contract expiry

Wouldn't be surprised to see Hamilton back (or us to try anyway). Local Prem offcuts, right age, did ok. Was a Jan signing at presumably TP involved. I hadn't realised the "11" was basically all kids though beyond Delaney (and he's younger than I'd thought). Darcy, Politic, Edwards, Brockers, Faal a...
