Re: It's Rochdale....again. Rochdale (H) 19th October 2019 15:00

My first of the season this. Looks like our best chance of three points all season, but we know what happens when expectations kick in. I reckon I am happy enough to see continued progress and a goal. Realistically, of course, we need to win this if the faint hopes of putting a relegation-busting ru...

Re: Administration and recovery

Dust off the paperwork from just before the injunction that Appleton thought stopped the sale but didn't, find a pen and get it signed. It was all ready to go through THAT DAY. Honest Paul said so. Plenty of time to get it done by 5pm and go for after work drinks. We'll see. I believe that you know...

Some more substantive updates on the Burnden Aces feed:

Incidentally, who runs Burnden Aces? I should probably know. It seems very well run.

Re: Ken Anderson - New Owner (Definitely. For Now ..... )

Right - back on topic... Anderson gave Iles an interview (an establishment of more cordial relations that maybe one or two on this forum could learn from?). Anyway, back on topic... The interview write-up provides a more detailed timeline of what happened in the build-up to the administration debacl...

Re: Ken Anderson - New Owner (Definitely. For Now ..... )

Interesting article on the BBC about the number of clubs that would make a profit even without ticket sales, thanks to bumper Premier League TV cash (sorry if this is covered on the forum elsewhere, but it seems relevant to issues about ownership). https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44850888 Inter...

How good a start is that against a fancied side. Who claimed we were going get hammered? Oh joy.....
Guilty!

Jumped up when both went in, and delighted to be proved wrong.

Re: Excitement, Hope, Fear, Joy, Pain; Aiming for Moore; WBA v BWFC 4/8/18 3pm

Can't see anything but a 4-0 defeat - but that doesn't mean doom and gloom. It is a very very difficult opening day fixture, and I am putting it in the same bracket as Wolves away last season. A West Midlands trip to be enjoyed without much expectation. If they put in a shift though, and come out wi...

Re: Should Phil Parkinson be sacked?

I wonder how many of those who want their heads testing, will buy season tickets for another 40 odd games of PP stylee football? Ken's problem is that he has to make a decision prior to knowing that figure. Does he allow a manager with a very poor record of signings to blow our summer budget (If we...

Re: Should Phil Parkinson be sacked?

DSB - You're right - this is indeed why I put "effectively" in, as opposed to mathematically. I would love to get to the final quarter of the season with enough going on below us to think we should be fine. Dull though that might be. Maybe that's another plus of PP? He has delivered two superb final...

Re: Should Phil Parkinson be sacked?

Not posted for a while, but compelled to weigh in here. Parkinson HAS to stay. No two ways about it for me. He has been immense. I would be more than happy with this sequence of events (from the day he was appointed): Season 1. Get us out of League 1 at the first time of asking Season 2. Do not get ...

Re: Albion the away end, will you? Brighton (A) 13/02/16

Who'd've thought Trotter being injured would come as such a blow? Hamstring, so maybe out for a few. Heading down from London for this one. I've not got a bad record this season, considering how bad we've been (two draws and a loss - Leeds (H), Charlton (A), Huddersfield (A)). Not expecting much fro...

Re: A Hard Day's Night by Lennon & McCarthy (A) Ipswich 3/11

For some reason, I'm on my way to Ipswich. Free ticket and train offered, so at least I'm not paying for the privilege of watching us get tonked. It'll be my third full game on the trot (albeit the Preston game I watched on TV), and they didn't lose either! I'd take a draw now, mind. I'm expecting 3...

Good to briefly meet up with TonyD, Enoch and Prufrock pre-game for some booze-fuelled footy chat that somehow wandered into General Election chit-chat. These things happen... Dartisan and I made it inside just in time for kick-off. Unfamiliar team, but they did all right, you know. Good value for t...

"No pay on the day" noted - thanks for the tip off (although my good friend and occasional Wandererer Dartisan had spotted this also). Tickets therefore bought - looking forward to it. Not sure why.

I'm hoping to make it. Pay on the day will be required though I think, since I can't commit just yet. There's a pub on each corner of the ground, right? That sounds like a plan.
