Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

We will have to cash in on some of our assets. There is a business side to our club. Losing 5 million a year is not something any invester wants to put their money in for the love of it. We will not get the 8 million extra that the Championship had to offer.. so we have very little choice but to ma...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm

They are shithouses. And I can’t honestly come to any other conclusion. They will no doubt go elsewhere and not care one bit. Fans can’t. We are stuck here. And we deserve a hell of a lot better than this group and their ‘efforts’. One could argue - if they were so inclined - that given the. Level ...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?

By the way, I thi k Evatt and his system would be a better fit higher up the league with better players at his disposal, and I do believe he is a good manager, but not in this league.

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?

If we want to stay in the Division and be loyal, keep Evatt. If we want to go up, then a sign of madness would be to keep doing the same thing and expect a different outcome. Go for me.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

There will be a wholesale purge. The annual loses cannot be maintained. From the starting 11 Baxter - gone Cogley - keep Jones - gone Santos - gone Toal - keep Ogbeta - sign Sheehan - gone Thomasson - stay Maghoma - gone Charles - gone Collins - stay Bench Coleman - stay Iredale - stay Forrester - s...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm

Jones, Santos, Sheehan, Maghoma, and Cogley were no shows today in terms of any positive contributions. Maghoma has an excuse and I was amazed that he came out for the 2nd half, and half surprized Santos did. Toal, Ogbeta, Thomasson and Dempsay when he came on tried, while the Charles and Collins we...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm

Outplayed by a better team that peaked at the right time. We certainly are a long way away from being Championship ready and need a reset this summer. Not sure Evatt will stay, but whether he stays or not, and I am not convinced that he is the answer, we need better players in defence and midfield t...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm

A disgraceful first half performance. Santos has bee horrible, the worst pkayer on the pitch. stops the ball when he gets it, slows us down to a walk, ans has no idea what to do with it . Its killing us. Maghoma is completely out of the game also. Our forwards starved of any kind of service. I have...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

If we go up and Jones Santos Toal are our starting Centrebacks, we will come right back down. One out of the 3 plus 2 better quality CBs as starters are needed for the Championship.

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm

Nothing wrong with having a "bad gut feel". Its a good thing. Not taking anything for granted. Its the expectation that kills. Overconfidence is a killer. As far as I am concerned the match can go either way. If we play with the same determination as in the semi-finals, I believe we will win. If we ...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs TBC. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm

Never expected to be facing Oxford in the final but feeling a lot better about this than preparing to face Posh. Oxford will feel they have exceeded expectations to get there and will be more relaxed. We are feeling disappointed for not getting up automatically, and will be tense if its 0-0 after 60...

Re: Up Winter Hill Bah't hat. Home to Barnsley, Tues 7th May 8-0 clock

We are in the final and I am happy. We fought hard against a really good team who threw everything and the kitchen sink at us, refusing to give up. We don't normally survive these types of games, and yes, we lost, but we fought hard to get to Wembley and made it. We lost the plot in the 2nd half as ...

Re: No nonsense, Ronseal type of deal. Barnsley Away. 3rd May 2024 19.30pm

Lovely win. Advantage Bolton. Interesting tactics in the first half. No playing out from the back as we knew Barnsley would come out with a 4 man press. Good job Evatt and scouts as we countered by hitting it long, keeping their backline busy, their weak point. Then we hit them with Evats "beautiful...

Re: No nonsense, Ronseal type of deal. Barnsley Away. 3rd May 2024 19.30pm

We play our own brand. Attack them from the off. We however need to manage well the 30-45 mins period when we tire by consolidating and not shying away from tackles. We also need to observe their change of tactics in the first 15 mins of the 2nd half and and adjust quickly from the bench if necessar...

Re: No nonsense, Ronseal type of deal. Barnsley Away. 3rd May 2024 19.30pm

Keep thinking negative thoughts and talking about the past is non-productive. Clean sheet, fresh start and Barnsley are just another team in our league. None of the past matters, only the future. Lately, I read of a man who said, "Our best defence is offence. No matter how well you defend, unless y...

Re: No nonsense, Ronseal type of deal. Barnsley Away. 3rd May 2024 19.30pm

Hypothetically, would you take a draw on Friday? We have pretty much everything in our favour going into Friday, so anything less than a win would be disappointing for me. Gun, help me to understand the "everything" we have going in our favour on Friday so that I can be as optimistic. For one not i...

Re: We Must Beat-a-borough - Away v Peterborough, Sat Apr 27th 12:30

Now is the time for the players to show that they have the fight for this. Neither Barnsley, Oxford or Peterborough are going to just hand it to us. We will have to fight for every ball and have the stomach for it. A "take no prisoner" mentality. Not seen that consistently in this team, so really ho...

Re: We Must Beat-a-borough - Away v Peterborough, Sat Apr 27th 12:30

No time to be tinkering with the side. Not much difference between Jones and Iredale to me, but Jones just edges it. When they both play, Jones on the right and Iredale on the left, our defense is all over the shop and very exposed. They make us significantly weaker playing together. Evatt prefers t...
