Re: Will the wheel drop off? Barrow (h) 27/02/21 15:00
It’s a really interesting discussion, this – and, as Jim McDonuts says, nicer to have it as a “first-class problem” than the existential angst of earlier in the season. When many here were ready to defenestrate Evatt I insisted there was more to come, but I’m not here to crow – and nor am I complet...

Re: Will the wheel drop off? Barrow (h) 27/02/21 15:00
Barrow came set up for a point, and dared us to break them down. Their strategy nearly worked, too - we don't have anyone capable of unlocking a rigid defence like that on a regular basis (does anyone in this league?) We stayed patient and waited for a break, a mistake, anything. 1-0 win with 70% po...

Re: Returning to the ground
There are a lot of "ifs" in play here. But if that timescale stands, and if we go the distance and get into the playoffs - tickets damn well better be offered to ST holders first and foremost. For both the semis and the final.

That is a stunning signing. Could well be the best player in the league. Wow.

Re: When do we make a call on Evatt?
What exactly did Crawford do last season to be called a "shining light"? One worldie free kick. Other than that? He was by no means the worst of the shite we had last season, but nor has he ever stood out to me as the deity some paint him to be. Similar Darcy. Looked good for a kid breaking through,...

Re: We've all come a long way: Crawley (H) Sat 2 Jan @ 3pm
It's no good having the best 2 players in the league if the rest are shite. We had to put a whole squad together in the summer. Both gambles at lwb didn't work and so we're stuck with square pegs in one of the most important positions in the team. You can certainly criticise him for sticking with i...

Re: We've all come a long way: Crawley (H) Sat 2 Jan @ 3pm
Without Kioso and a LWB, the system struggles to be effective. Quietly, calmly, and without reaching for hyperbole, ICB makes the truest point of the day. And lest this be seen as a U-turn, I'm still very far from convinced any other formation would do better *With *These *Players. And yet, 24 shot...

Re: Pragmatism vs Perseverance
Fantasy football has until Harrogate for me. We will get dicked at Colchester but if we are propping up the table after games against Newport and Harrogate I’d seriously be questioning this whole episode. Including Phoenix and his championship manager settings (pace >15, etc). Nah, the manager need...

Re: Vale of tiers: Port Vale (H), Division Four, Sat 6 Dec @ 3pm
Crawford was hardly to blame for today's performance, or lack thereof. But he's been almost completely anonymous all season. He needs to be dropped. A player of his pedigree should be, as others have mentioned, among the very best in this league. What's he accomplished this season? When have any of ...

Yep, happy with that one. Scrappy 2nd half as Stevenage fought tooth and nail to get back into it, but we were still the better side. Anything less than a win would have been an injustice. Starting to click now!

Re: Making HMS YouKnowWhat ship-shape: Winter 20/21 transfer thread
I can see Crellin and White having their loans cut short. I can also see Greenidge, Mascoll, Comley and potentially Gordon and Hickman being actively moved on. GK, LWB, DM and ST must be the positions we look to strengthen. Gilks is good in goal temporarily, but given that he was brought in as coac...

Re: Sal-Destroying. Home. Friday 13th. 7:45. On the tele.
Like Evatt’s interview: “ not sure who gave Gilks MOTM for taking goal kicks’!!! Two good saves and a lot of marshalling. He certainly made a difference to the defensive performance but I, like others, wouldn't have made that choice - Santos would have been my pick. Not that I begrudge Gilks the gl...

Santos and Tutte both outstanding. Gilks clearly made a difference at the back. Proper Captain's performance from Sarce. Jones and Kioso impressive also. We didn't have an awful lot of the ball in the 2nd half, but I never really felt like we were in danger. Superb!

If you're Matty Alexander, how shit are you feeling just now? Benched in favour of a loanee, and when he proves to be incorporeal your coach gets a shot before you.
I know he's "One For The Future (tm)", but still. That's gotta be a bit of a kicker.

This, but I'd put Isgrove wide left and Darcy next to Crawford. Not like we're swimming in options at the minute, except for exchanging traffic cones for concrete bollards at the back.

Really unfair on Brockbank if Evatt attempts to pin part of this on him. He's looked good at CB recently, but God knows what the thinking behind his position tonight is.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 7:33 pmI predict a double substitution at half-time, just to prove a point. Re: Oh My Cod! Will we put them in their Plaice? Grimsby Town (H), League 2, Saturday 10th October @ 15:00
I saw signs today that the formation was starting to bear fruit. Out of possession, the back three pulled close in, the gaps on the flanks being filled by a combination of the wide players and the defensive midfielders. In possession, those same centre backs spread outwards, leaving Brockbank and De...
