Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet

Well I'm not sure that's a valid comparison Monty! The "ball in play" stats mean exactly that. They don't include gearing up for throw-ins or corners etc. By that metric there must be far less actual play in any baseball game. From the pitchers arm to the backstop, or behind the foul line a lot of ...

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet

I'm not a format snob Twattish comment. Do you not have a preferred format? I wasn’t calling anyone a format snob or suggesting that preferring one makes you a snob. More that my non plussed reaction to the hundred has had me called a format snob. I don’t think I am. I enjoy all forms of the game. ...

Re: Returning to the ground

Sounds like after September events like football matches will require adults attending to prove they have had two doses of the Covid vaccine. This seems to be prompting outrage on social media. It is quite a complex thing given that a) a vaccine doesn't stop you necessarily having or spreading covi...

And to you a few months late, Jon. Thanks, Tango. We, who saw Nat play, must stick together!

Re: Today I'm angry about.....

We were once the country of Shakespeare, Wordsworth, Nightingale and Turner. Now we're the country of Robinson, Hopkins, racist footie hooligans and women who lift their skirts to pish in the streets of Faliraki and Shagaluf. Great Britain. Feck me. Apropos of not much, and just for interest and qu...

Caught Bowled Stumped LBW Run Out Hit wicket Handled the ball Obstructing the fielding side Deliberately striking the ball twice Honestly cannot remember tenth…grr Batsman retired / retired hurt? Re: Today I'm neither Angry nor Happy about....

Had another two interesting scenarios which probably don’t occur in test match cricket but do in U11 school boy! One lad bowled and hit the bails with the ball going over the batters head but then hitting wicket. I assumed not out as a no ball. Boss said I was correct. I don't get this bit. Surely ...

Re: School days...

I was at boarding school in the 1950s for nine months of the year from age 8 to 18. Corporal punishment was common and treatment from bigger, older pupils was worse. I won't recount the things I endured, but when I left school I emigrated to Canada, where accents, received pronunciation and respect ...

1. Footy. Watching and playing 2. Fell running. Doing 3. Athletics. Watching 4 Boxing. Definitely watching 5. Not sure whether to opt for tennis, rugby or ice hockey, all of which were a decent watch but a long way behind the rest of my list. Never quite understood why hitting someone is considered...

Anger is such a wasted emotion but bloody hell have any of you been following the case of the subpostmasters v the Post Office and their horizon software? I'd urge anyone to give themselves 10 minutes and read this https://t.co/7efd2oBl5O?amp=1 Absolutely outrageous and a nightmare of Kafka esque p...

Re: General Chit Chat

Having a nice snuggly cuddle with youngest son (age 5) before bed and he turns round after telling me he loves me to ask me what I would do if my head was chopped off?! I don’t understand the male mind sometimes, young or old! So? Don’t leave us all in suspense. What was your answer...

Doug Holden, Bolton regular winger in the fifties and one of the 1953 F.A. Cup side, passed away today ages 90. Much loved and one of the "Holden, Moir, Lofthouse, Hassall and Langton" regular Bolton forward line I saw him play many times. . God Bless Dougie, Rest in Peace. He was the last BWFC pla...
