Summat for those of us fighting the flab to be inspired by! The Belvedere Torso is coming to London! Can't believe this is coming here. The Vatican have really spoilt us in recent years by loaning us the Raphael Tapestries (V&A), the Leonardo St Jerome (National Gallery) and now this. Have you seen...

Re: Dogs are wonderful

What do people think of Westies? Moving in with the girlf in Feb and looking for a city dog from about summer. They seem perfect from what I've seen but wondered if anyone had first hand. Not firsthand Pru, but a friend of.mine had one for 16 years. Lovely dog and very sociable. He reckoned some ca...

Re: The Great Art Debate

Too much of any good thing tends to take the edges off. Maybe some of the money recouped from his sales might be used for a permanent Turner Gallery? I'm sure it would pay for itself and become a money-earner in time. That's absolutely true - I went round with a critic yesterday and we were discuss...

Re: The Great Art Debate

If I might be allowed a couple of comments ( on Turner only here) that are just personal views Mummy. Quite a few of them are based on actual known facts: Figures: Firstly, Turner was almost exclusively, a landscape painter and an impressionistic one at that. No portraits of himself exist apart fro...

Re: The Great Art Debate

Yep - that is an interesting thought... I think our provisionally planned New Year trip to London might go most of the way towards paying for a two people pass - with 50% discounts on exhibitions we wish to see... Yep, and it also gives free entry to the Courtauld Gallery and the Dulwich Picture Ga...

Re: A Win Away? Millwall / Friday 19th

so - nobody who went has anything at all to report about how Eidur looked? He looked quite good on the ball - his touch and his passing were tidy. He wasn't really all that involved though because he was playing in a withdrawn position off... well, nobody actually! So... he was not wasteful when he...

Remind me what non-parasitic, socially useful role you perform again? I'm not sure which you mean. My day job ensuring that cancer patients get diagnosed earlier and have a smooth transition through their treatment programmes Ah, so you're a doctor? A medic? Good God no. I may at some stage do a Ph...

I find all this casual racism quite appalling personally, and don't please, give me that shoite about Islam not being a race, so it can't be racism. Re: The Great Art Debate

Last Friday, while visiting daughter, her partner and four months now grandson, just learning to chuckle, we managed to squeeze in a visit to the tate's 'late turner' exhibition. Some very nice things there, including some watercolours I'd never seen before... BUT - pretty cheeky of the Tate, I rec...
