Re: The Olympics

I know nowt about diving nor care in any way for it. But for me Tom Daley winning a gold at his 4th attempt after all he's been through is absolutely what the olympics are about. I mean he's won everything and been top of his sport - apart from an olympic gold. You can just see what it means to him...

Re: The Olympics

He's obviously an incredible athlete but loving the contrast of the lean, chiseled figures of the lead Triathletes and the Norwegian lad with them who looks like he woke up this morning after a skinful and realised he had to run a triathlon this morning. And now he has taken the lead! The Lever End...

Re: The athletics/running thread

Normality will seem a lot closer tomorrow with frickley country parkrun and a filthy breakfast. In keeping with tradition I'll be having a skinful in Chapel Allerton tonight. No doubt running a sub 20 min 5k. You utter Cnut! I didn't. And remained sober due to Mrs LE not feeling well after her vacc...

The Olympics

Thought it deserved its own thread…

Who’s going to be watching? Athletics is always the pinnacle for me but looking forward to the gymnastics, swimming and diving too. Happy that my twins (age 10) will really ‘get’ it this time round too.

Re: Returning to the ground

As for shopping and masks I agree entirely but they only work if everyone wears them and we sadly have a lot of incredibly selfish individuals in our society. Most of whom do it to prove a point; quite what that is I know not unless it falls under the "Nobody is telling me what to do" mantra, in wh...

That does look nice. Had a nice weekend in Eskdale recently, need to get to the lakes more often. 2 weeks camping in Wales coming up. St davids. Sounds idyllic.
Pembrokeshire is lovely! Can I recommend Tenby for a visit! We went last year on holiday. Just lovely. Beaches are stunning.

Re: European Finals.

Don’t really care much about England tbh. Club over country every time, but penalty shoot outs are horrible and I felt a bit tearful at the end seeing our boy Saka so upset. He never takes pens for Arsenal and he’s 19 ffs! Why were Grealish and Sterling not stepping up?

Re: The athletics/running thread

Yeah, pub here too. Two benefits. 1) Not there and 2) don't care when home. A little bit of wee won't stop me. Mrs Worthys so lucky to be married to such an understanding, enlightened, new age man. I assume the pub is after you’ve tenderly made her a hot water bottle and given paracetamol and choco...

Re: The athletics/running thread

Certain times of the ahem, month, I don’t fancy much exercise anyway. You men really do have things easy! Well, if ever there was a "let's make a reason to get out of the house for a run/walk/wash the car/count the bricks in the front wall/go to the pub. That's right up there. Ha! Some months my mo...

I’ve done sod all this week after an energetic last week. Youngest having to self isolate has given me an excuse to stay in and sit on my arse. Certain times of the ahem, month, I don’t fancy much exercise anyway. You men really do have things easy!

Re: The athletics/running thread

Was a great effort mate, well done. If you do decide to do another I'd make it a half distance somewhere sunny! My mate keeps talking about us doing a half ironman somewhere but I'm just not that keen on swimming or cycling, which is a drawback. Not liking swimming or cycling could limit you a bit…...

Re: General Chit Chat

First time down to London and an office in 20 months. Not missed this one bit, the most unproductive use of time. Travel 8 hours for a 2 hour meeting. Bit apprehensive about train, no chance I'm venturing near tube. The Marketing Dept might describe the suit as "snug" Still, pays the Bill's. My hus...

Re: The athletics/running thread

Sussex champs today. Bit of a damp squib. Literally. Officials were a shambles. Due to start at 11am, didn't til gone half past and due to mix ups with the boards some people didn’t jump at all for the first hour. i jumped ok the first jump, then I couldn’t get my run up sorted at all, bodged up att...

Episode 2 of ‘The Queens gambit’. Not something I’d usually pick but quite enjoying it!
