I don't know why we're all so beastly to him - a quick google of "Benitez blames" will reveal it wasn't his fault. As this news story points out, there's the owners , obviously. And the senior players, and a pitch they had to play on, and the bad luck that forced him to sign a perma-crock... Nothing...

For those who haven't seen Steve McClaren secured the Dutch title with FC Twente yesterday, there's a news article here. Not a bad achievement, but the league is a bit of a joke (second place Ajax goal difference of +86, Twente goal difference of +40) So will he ever return to English managent, or h...

But if he does go will we miss him?

I think I sort of will in a funny kind of way. Who will keep us entertained?

What sort of plum is so pessimistic of passing that they'd get someone else to complete what is quite possibly the easiest exam ever devised? You need 70% to pass, on a multiple choice test, most of which are variations on the question: "Which way must you give way to on a roundabout? a) Right b) U...

This news story highlights a worrying aspect of their debt - agents. One of them is owed £2.3 million for his "work" on one deal. Something has to be done about the money grabbing tossers. I'd like to see a full investigation into what's gone on at Portsmouth and what rules need to be introduced to...

What about if Liverpool win it? Or Portsmouth win the FA cup and have their appeal for a UEFA licence accepted? Christ this Europa League thing is confusing. Not as confusing as the fair play table itself though. Take a look at it. How on earth are Arsenal top? What the F is "positive play"? Who jud...

Re: Is Van Persie Playing?

Well it looks like he may be. Robin Van Persie set for Arsenal return at Tottenham http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/a/arsenal/8615796.stm But not against us for a while I guess! :D Heh. I'm actually really looking forward to this game for some reason. I just hope Arsenal can do...

I think Malcolm was an excellent salesman and certainly helped punk break out. Still, he did so off the back of other people's ideas and while it's not a bad thing I'm not sure was always keen to give credit where it was due.

Still, things wouldn't have been the same without him.

RIP.

Footballers self-potraits.

Don't know if you've seen it but there's a collection of self-portraits on the BBC here. They've got graphologist to give us insights into their personalities, but by looking at the pictures I've concluded that.... a) Theo Wallcot is fast with no end product. b) David James' signiture shouldn't be v...

Gutted I missed it. Must have been hilarious. As this Champions League match review points out Man Yoo were well odds on to go through at one point. Desperate to finish in the top four? Struggling for points? Slender 1-0 lead? Sub your best player so he's nicely rested for the Europa League and then watch as he looks bemused and your captain starts thinking where he'll be playing next season.

Well done Rafa, you're always a bag of laughs!

That doesn't answer the question. Which one of our midfielders is capable of 14 goals in the championship? Come on I'm waiting....... Well Nolan scored zero goals in the Premier League last season, and Cohen has scored 3 so far, so if that ratio holds, Cohen would score an infinite number of goals ...

West Ham will today lodge an official complaint to the Premier League against Fulham after Roy Hodgson fielded a weakened side in last weekend's 2-0 defeat at relegation rivals Hull. Relations between the two clubs remain strained as Fulham are still suing West Ham for "merit money" lost in 2006-07...

Anyone else think the ref was spot on? Great challenge until Caldwell's trailing leg comes off the ground and goes right through the back of Tevez, then it turns into a bit of a shocker... Tevez does it to Caldwell..... What does the ref do then? Tevez does jump, yes, but he lands with both feet on...

Steve Bruce is really going to have to work on the away performances next season. If they'd not clicked at home again lately they'd be in real trouble. As for Liverpool this Premier League expert's blog suggests they're in the hunt for the top four again. I suppose if they keep playing like that the...
