"I can't believe the contracts I've inherited." Surely that should have been looked into before buying the club I seem to remember Mike Ashley saying a similar thing about Newcastle when he took over... I also remember Gold and Sullivan saying they'd be willing to pay a certain aging Dutch striker ...

According to the Sun it was a game of head the bin... Not sure I trust the Sun on issues like this though. Still, whatever happened it's a real tragedy. If the Crown Prosecution Service do decide to bring charges, which they probably will, I don't think I'll feel any sympathy for the bloke that's b...

I like the idea of adding on an extra game ban for frivolous appeals, but the process lets you choose to some degree when you want the player to be banned, which I think defeats the purpose. I think the additional ban is in there to try and discourage clubs from using the appeal system in this way....

Are Brazilians crap at (English) football?
As this Premier League football article points out, very few Brazilians have made a lasting impact on the English game. There was Juniniho and, erm........... Anyway, it got me to wondering why this is. Do best Brazilians simply not want to play here, is the game to fast for the ones who do come ove...

Robbie Savage's face...
Sorry if you've already seen this, but I can think of a more appealing target to smack a football off. BBC video here.
Having watched it though, I can only conclude that either the Deby players like Savage or they're really, really bad at football...

Nice to see Stoke kicking the Arse. Indeed, although as this FA Cup football blog points out I don't think Wenger will be that bothered - he made nine changes and clearly doesn't care for the cup. To be honest, I've really enjoyed the FA Cup this season. I just hope it the final doesn't end up bein...

He's really not entirely mentally stable, is he ?! He does seem to have lost the plot somewhat. Although he clearly wants to get to the final, quotes from this Carling Cup match preview - "If we're going to reach the final we have to score the first goal" suggest he might even try some form of atta...

Being sued for £1.7 million by Sol Campbell now. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_5873389,00.html Another vulture circling... nice to see Campbell chose a nice time to do it, too. I'm sort of torn on the Campbell thing. Clearly if he signed a contract with such terms in he has a right t...

Got to feel a bit sorry for West Ham fans. Reading this Premier League relegation blog it seems they're welcoming the Gold/Sullivan take over. I'm pretty sure Birmingham fans would have a few choice words to say about them... Still, it looks like the only alternative was administration. Wait, what a...

Henry off to face a FIFA disciplinary committee today. Wonder what his punishment will be? Maybe they'll make him play the whole World Cup with his hands tied behinf his back?

According to the Mail (ugh, I feel bad even writing that...) it was a bust up with Briatore himself that led to Hart walking out. It would be funny if it was a falling out with Taarabt as Hart looks set to take on a coaching role at Spurs... A rematch might be on the cards...

How about this idiot? Why do people think that playing nice football equates to a ropey defence. Not all teams are Newcastle United. The reason there are so many opinions in football journalism these days is the rise of the internet and the vast number of games on TV. We no longer need sports journ...

Hart gone after five games . Nine managers in less than four years. Got to feel sorry for their fans. I thought about using the "Briatore is a..." format in the subject line but couldn't think of a word that wouldn't get me banned. The man is clearly an idiot, but sadly you can't stop idiots owning...

According to this Premier League relegation blog , Burnley's odds for the drop have actually shortened after they appointed Laws. Nothing like a vote of confidence. So then, with Portsmouth doomed, do we expect Burnley to fill up that second bottom spot and leave it as one from Stoke, Sunderland, Bl...

Fourth and final Test tomorrow then. Looks like there's going to be a result , the pitch is going to be greener than a very green thing. According to this England Test cricket blog , we're still in with a good shout. To me, the match will be won or lost (or drawn) on the toss. If we win it, go in an...

I don't think the winter break would be an answer for the reasons given above. I also think that once they were given one, the managers who whine about too much football would find plenty of time to play money-spinning friendlies during the gap. As for why things are called off, I've heard its the f...
