Re: Up Winter Hill Bah't hat. Home to Barnsley, Tues 7th May 8-0 clock
I wouldn't want us too defensive. I don't think it suits us. As mentioned at weekend, they often concede first 20. Win this and worry about any further games, if we get there. 10 days recovery and prep time is enough to go full tilt with your "best" XI in my opinion, but the medical guys might be m...

Re: Up Winter Hill Bah't hat. Home to Barnsley, Tues 7th May 8-0 clock
Not that Mr Evatt will be influenced by it, but taking circumstances into account, maybe this would be my suggested starter team: Baxter, Jones, Ricardo, Toal, Thomason, J.D.C ,Williams, Sheehan Maghomah, Charles, Jerome........ Collins to be held back as a "if needed" choice. This based a a defens...

Re: Up Winter Hill Bah't hat. Home to Barnsley, Tues 7th May 8-0 clock
Same starting team tonight then? That’s probably what I’d go for, and I think Evatt will as well. I would too, but I do think there'll be some science based changes to some areas. Possibly 3 changes- A Wing Back, Centre Mid and Striker change Wouldn't be surprised to see Iredale come in to help Toa...

Re: Up Winter Hill Bah't hat. Home to Barnsley, Tues 7th May 8-0 clock
Have felt pretty confident since Friday. This morning though post coffee am absolutely bricking it. Guess it’s just pre match normal fears but seeing Barnsley fans suddenly feel confident isn’t helping. What's changed with Barnsley? As long as we don't ship an early goal I reckon we'll be reet and ...

In the 4 games they have faced off Evatt has won 3 and lost 1, at Brisbane Rd this season
Comfortable wins for Evatt v Doncaster, Salford plus the L.O home win this season

Wasn't Wellens first game at Salford the one where we beat them at home on Sky, during the Covid era?

Re: No nonsense, Ronseal type of deal. Barnsley Away. 3rd May 2024 19.30pm
I think you offer fair points there BWFCI - But just feel you/we may need to remain calm if it's not going our way - Barnsley do have pace on the counter attack though. Cole and McAtee are sharp, direct and busy. If we get the wing-backs too high and Thomason and Maghoma are caught ahead of the ball...

Re: No nonsense, Ronseal type of deal. Barnsley Away. 3rd May 2024 19.30pm
Barnsley will be bang up for it, they want to play end to end, especially at their place. We don't want to be 2-0 after 20 mins. I don't think Boris is talking about parking the bus for 90. But you start solid, frustrate them in a game where they want the initiative and then take advantage of the g...

Re: No nonsense, Ronseal type of deal. Barnsley Away. 3rd May 2024 19.30pm
What we do not want, is Thomason being the one who gets the ball deep. he was their trigger last time we played them in that first half and they hurt us.
Get the ball into Sheehan and get around the ref every time they try and saw him in half

Re: No nonsense, Ronseal type of deal. Barnsley Away. 3rd May 2024 19.30pm
I have me doubts, that we can keep that intensity for 180 minutes (or even 90). There will be ebbs and flows and we need to understand when they're happening and how to counter them... Yep. If anybody thinks we're going to bang on it for every minute of both games, they're mistaken. In the first le...

With our home form, I'd be glad to get out of Oakwell with a draw, especially if we're under the cosh a bit, but I believe we can go there and win.
We'll likely be the better side on the night, have more ball and create more chances. It's about f-in time we won one of them!

I'm not sure I'm as comfortable with him holding everyone to account over a failure when there's still the chance of us NOT failing. He knws the players better than we do and maybe him telling them how good they are publicly and that we've been unlucky etc, is what the players need to hear? Maybe gi...

There is too much talk. Too much ‘keeping of receipts’. Not enough ‘we are going to internalize this and come out and absolutely win every game we need to’.

Re: We Must Beat-a-borough - Away v Peterborough, Sat Apr 27th 12:30
Probably not worth its own thread, so I'll put it on here. One thing I have noticed recently and it's a problem for me, but obviously not them.. Recently, we've dropped valuable points in games where we've scored but drawn. At this stage of the season where every win was crucial, I saw players all o...
