Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

The B Team is way too new to expect it to return first team regulars yet!!

Bring in players on a free, give them good coaching and loan them out with a view to selling - Good model for now, as we look to incrementally improve it. We can't have everything right now.

Re: Division Three, 2024/25

They presumably would have been signing those same players had they remained in the Championship, in that case

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

I’ve never watched a Bolton side win promotion without a clear identity around how they’d score a goal. And Evatt has an identity it’s just that the identity requires a quality of player we can’t and won’t possess to work week in week out. We scored about 125 goals last season "No I'm talking about...

Re: Our formation

Sheehan's problem like many of our other players is that he tends to go missing in the bigger games, the more physical games, as BWFCI says we do need more athletic, physical midfielders - we absolutely need a new box to box midfielder. Keep hearing this but don't actually think it's correct. Poor ...

Re: Tonight's Football

So what do you do when Watkins is absolutely shagged after an hour, from sprinting around looking for scraps?

Re: Tonight's Football

I also see Bellingham getting some pelters on socials. Deary feckin me. He was fantastic last night. Had to play on the left to occupy the dangerous Dumfries who did nothing, except for escape a second yellow somehow for his unpunished foul on Foden who robbed him and was in on goal. He worked his s...

Re: Tonight's Football

We need energy and quality off the bench. Last night showed that. You don't want to have to bring Kane on when the game demands a Watkins. I'm not sure I saw enough from Shaw to suggest he can do 90+ mins, let alone potentially 120+. Tripper could get knotted up by Yamal, but then also provides grea...

Re: Tonight's Football

No other team drops their main goal threat, who despite apparently being shite, is the tournaments 2nd top scorer and the tournaments all-time top scorer in the knockout stages. I hope we don't succumb to peer pressure. Kane will score in the final and once he's done his shift, Watkins can do his 10...

Re: Your England XI

There's nothing wrong with the personnel from the last match. The issue is the way they'r ebeing asked us to play The goal we conceded, the ball was forced backwards pretty well, then when the midfield edged up, the defence stayed and it created a massive gap for runners to exploit, then the defende...

Re: Your England XI

Switzerland will beat Italy

But yeah, last nights Chechia (Chechya?) game was top. The best games have indeed been that 2nd or 3rd tier of teams going at eachother for the points they rarely take off the teams above them in the pecking order. That Calhanoglu goal was superb. Wonderful technique!

Re: Your England XI

I don't think Tuesday was as bad as people are letting on. My main criticism is simply that we took long to get going. I think that's confidence more than anything. They've gone to looking scared to play and scared to give the ball away because of the way the supporters and media have been, more tha...

Re: Your England XI

Crap. Gameplan is to have 9 defenders and hope 2 players can feck up, find themselves somehow in the opposition half and score us a goal

Re: Tonight's Football

Scotland finally turned up last night and I think it's a shame they didn't win. They need to ditch the English peeing about at the back though, there was movement in front for receiving the ball, they just didn't capitalise on it. They had a couple of good spells, but I don’t know what the Beeb wer...

It is indeed a prestige team to invite. There'll be upwards of 4,000 on for that one, around 40% of them booing the captain and manager.
They’re playing Preston 24hrs later so may be a bit of a mixed team, with trialists (trialista’s?) and youth players

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?

Also, I don't necessarily think he had an 'eye' to spot things... I think it was a case of him being revolutionary with statistics / data points etc. He knew what the positions needed and he was able to use data and analysis to know which player could do what and to what extent. People call him a di...
