If I'm not too late count me in, I missed out last time. So, a retired engineering Professor who has problems with his short term memory would fit me fine, or a pommie going walkabout in the Australian outback would be just as good. In fact why not a pommie professor getting lost in the outback beca...

Big Sam was right, the Aussies just did not have what it takes to crack open an Italian defense. They were also lucky that Italy did not have their shooting boots on, but to lose to a penalty decision like that is still difficult to take. I'm over it now and am able to speak again which is good I su...

the Italians bailed out by a ref who sent Materazzi off and then gave the worlds softest penalty with 10 seconds of injury time left. there would be an outrage if that penalty was given in the Premiership. it seems Fifa only want the players boots to touch the grass and no other part of the body. d...

Italy v Aussie
Possession about even but Italy are much more active in front of goal. Quite a few chances but as yet Italy have failed to capitalise on any, two fine saves by our keeper. So far so good, 0-0 at half time, but we need to show more attacking flair if we hope to get a goal.

Here we go again about entertaining football. Did no-one tell that to Greece two years ago? I admit Scolari's Indian sign will probably work again next week, but like I always say, those who want entertainment, go to the bloody circus. It's about results, not a firework display. Why does being ente...

Hargreaves was the best player on the park! Sven plays a midfielder at full back and he has a good game, but don't forget SAM DID IT FIRST But, Sven has to play Lennon against Portugal, he looks so good on the ball and we need players who can control the ball and beat defenders if we hope to win in...

Nah, we'll bore an under-strength Portugal into submission just like we do with everyone else. I concur with that, Portugal will be lulled into a coma by our fantastic midfield. But Lampard has to score sometime and I guess next Saturday will be a good time to do it. 2-1 with Frank and Rooney on th...

His 1st goal for England for 15 months wins the game, so I guess that's why he's playing, but apart from that Beckham did nothing for the other 89 mins. I think that I'm right in that it was the only meaningful shot that England got on goal in the whole match . Very poor performance against a team t...

The only thing i've been disappointed with is the level of quality shown in the England games. Sure we've managed to get through but its been at a leisurely cruise of a pace and without any real 'ooomph'. Aside from that I think the WC has been a great spectacle to watch, just wish I could say the ...

Pathetic, boring, lifeless, inept, er did I say pathetic performance. There is more energy in the Ecuadorian Goalkeeper than in the whole England team. Rooney is not a loan striker, he is much better in support in a 4-4-2 format. Beckham not in the game and the defense is in disaray at times. Can't ...

Re: 10 Swedes v 12 Germans.
The situation isn't helped by a ref who's given them nothing-except 2 yellow cards, one deserved and one farcial . Soooooooooooo right, what a bad decision by the Ref. Foul yes but the yellow card was as you say farcical. The Ref wasn't going to give one but seemed to be pressurised into it by requ...

Re: England - Ecuador
The smart money seems to be on the following line up for Sunday Robinson Hargreaves Ferdinand Terry Cole Beckham Gerrard Carrick Lampard Cole Rooney Is this a case of necessity being the mother of invention, or has Sven finally slackened his nuts off a bit? What's happened to Lennon? I would have h...

He sat on the bench looking like a sulky school kid, but then I guess that's what he really is.Batman wrote:Thank God I missed that bit whilst brewing up."Rooney leaves the field, tossing off his boots in the process"

Re: Moving on
However, I guess he couldn't use Walcott later on because he had to sub Owen and Rio, and was probably right to sub Rooney. However, he should probably have put Walcott in for Owen but didn't have the brains to think of it in his state of shock. Err, isn't Rooney a striker, if so surely last night ...
