a third - a great lanky git whose inclusion makes the whole team have to play in a way alien to its roots Fine, but I don't get this bit. There is this great delusion in this country that we play/used to play/deserve to play like Brazil. We play bog-standard football and always have done. Peter Cro...

Good report, got up at 3am for this one, thought it was the right decision at half time but it finished up so predictable at the end that I might have well stayed in bed. Must have been a good game though for any neutral watching but for England supporters it was an agonising second half yet again. ...

Yellow Cards and all that!
Refs appear to be giving yellow cards for the most mundane tackles and inoffensive player actions, Crespo was even given one for "scoring a goal" after he had been flagged for offside. Yet only one yellow given for diving as far as I can remember (that nice Chelsea guy playing for Holland) even thou...

Yes, he scored against Spain in the Euro 2004 qualifying. In looking up his record I found the following distinction (who the hell follows these things?): Stelios also has the distinction of being part of the substitution that holds the record of the largest difference between the number of letters...

2-0 Gerrard 90mins, screamer from outside the box. Scoreline doesn't hide the flaws, but I suppose the win is the main thing. Great second goal but what about the earlier woeful finishing, and very slow build ups. Sven can say that they were pacing themselves and don't want to peak to soon but that...

Czechs looked good America looked Woeful, thefirst goal was a good header but the defending was abysmal, Onyewu seemed to go walkabout for the whole 90 and looked rather piss poor if I'm honest, based on todays performance, Boro can have the lad Who wanted us to buy Onyewu anyway, the lad did himse...

the borg is out for the Angola match....may see more of Bravo (w/ either Franco or Fonseca) Injury didn't look to bad though on TV, he seemed to come off for a more precautionary reason than a serious injury. Hope that he's ok for the Portugal game. I guess that he's not match fit after spending so...

Hmmm, a different perspective on the match ... Anyone care to comment on Jap's first goal ?? I thought that it was a goalkeeper error, he was no where near the ball and I thought that he rushed out into the Jap player and not the otherway round. Not a foul for me and so a good, if lucky goal, and I...

The Ausies didn't play well at all, loads of the ball but didn't make any real chances except a couple in the first half and two from free kicks in the second until 6 minutes to go. Japan seemed to be in complete control until in the 84th minute a long throw into the box, goalkeeper came out flappin...

It was just like watching Bolton at their worst. Loads of long balls to Davies, oops sorry Crouch, poor kicking by Jussi, oops again by Robinson, and playing for a clean sheet against a team that we should have beated quite easily. Very frustrating but as others have said its a marathon not a sprint...

1958 and Pele's break onto the World stage was something special to see. Also Sweden got through to the final which was also special for such a small Country with so few professional football clubs, even though they where host Nation it was still a major achievement. My son-in-law is Swedish which m...
