Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
I'm about to become Mr Unpopular 2024 (nothing new I know). I'm usually/always, a glass half-full chap, but hark, the light's are on RED. Put the happy juice and wacky-backy down and listen to yourselves will you? Oxford United could pop the balloon unless we stop pipe-dreaming and face reality. The...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Wide players who can dribble past defenders will not only make more goals, they'll make us much, much better defensively. We'll lose the ball further up the park and the back three will spend less time on it. Add the word, fast, pacey and physical in there and I'm all for that Ghost. ae:) ae:)

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
I'd still go for Joel Randall and possibly Knight of Posh. Randall reminds me of Fossey and I reckon could play wing back as well as midfield. Knight is a big aggressive winger.

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs TBC. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
"Rub of the green", something Bolton don't get a lot of, is not just a wish, it's the unknown accident that can occur in the most unexpected time and place either for you or against. Personally, I reckon it's possibly from the ancient Welsh Celtic rugby translation of " Referundinium a clitoristy" t...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs TBC. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
In reality the final is just a League game with attitude for players, managers and fans. It wasn't facts and figures that had us beat Barnsley, or Oxford beat Posh; it was just effort and attitude. The cigar prize is bigger and comes in fancier packaging, but smoke is smoke whatever fancy words you ...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs TBC. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
Darren Ferguson showing his usual horrendous lack of class. Battered them, they didnt deserve to go through, Oxford just got lucky. It’s not what I watched Darren. You had a lot of the ball. Didn’t do much with it. It's about scoring goals Darren. Nice football gets no cigars. Deserve has nothing t...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs TBC. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
Stonewall penalty for me! Oh, I'm not saying it wasn't a penalty, just tough it happened. Serious stuff, but one comic moments was when an Ox lad took one on the chin and three pairs of Posh arms shot skyward. So, there we have it; Bolton Wanderers v Oxford United for the laurel wreath. :oyea...

It is now. Penalty a bit tough on Posh, Tom Daley has a lot to answer for.

Re: Up Winter Hill Bah't hat. Home to Barnsley, Tues 7th May 8-0 clock
Just a couple of golden moments to mention: 1. Charles's worldie ball across their box for Collins..incredible, as Charles was all game. 2. Collins deadly goal which few could have the vision or skill to score. That goal probably took us to Wembley. 3. Sheer annoyance at the ref blowing against Coll...

Balance it against what the club's been through and it's understandable to be a bit joyful.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2024 10:20 pmWell, the players are enjoying it. More than I did! Beers with the fans… still a game to go here lads.

Re: Up Winter Hill Bah't hat. Home to Barnsley, Tues 7th May 8-0 clock
And thus it was ever going to be. We played it as we had to as long as we had the lead, however slender. Like I said earlier, they were the chasers so how else should we play it? Their plan was as simple as stick big lumps in our box and shove their way into our net. Cosgrove fouled not one but two ...

One item I forgot; they'll be penalty hunting from the off, particularly if they win the toss and kick off, so beware the divers. Cole is quick and he'll be target one. For agony impressions they'll compete with a Punch and Judy show.

Re: Up Winter Hill Bah't hat. Home to Barnsley, Tues 7th May 8-0 clock
Hey, we're the ones with a two goal advantage and it's Barnsley chasing the ace. If we're not good enough to win this we're being a bit optimistic in the Championship. Get out there, play football and see them off. Over confidence is a minus as much as a plus and this is a football match, not an epi...

Re: Up Winter Hill Bah't hat. Home to Barnsley, Tues 7th May 8-0 clock
Not that Mr Evatt will be influenced by it, but taking circumstances into account, maybe this would be my suggested starter team: Baxter, Jones, Ricardo, Toal, Thomason, J.D.C ,Williams, Sheehan Maghomah, Charles, Jerome........ Collins to be held back as a "if needed" choice. This based a a defensi...

Re: Up Winter Hill Bah't hat. Home to Barnsley, Tues 7th May 8-0 clock
I just don't want to hear how unlucky they'd be to lose after dominating the second leg. Course they will, we're the ones with the advantage so we're not going to throw it away to prove any points. We're after promotion, not praise or points. If situations were reversed, we'd do exactly the same. ae...
