Re: Time to batter the fish wives? Grimsby (A) - Sat 17th Apr 12:30 KO

Surest sign yet that Grimsby have given up the ghost and are preparing for life in the National League. You don't limit your resources if you think there's any chance of staying up. 3-0. Don't believe it Tony, They're professionals earning a living, including the manager, and Grimsby still need a t...

Re: General Chit Chat

As a follow on to a thread in The Trotter about the importance of winning: We all like to win, but how important is it in the grand scheme? A while back I watched a documentary about young kids ballroom dancing. Some of the parents were so obsessive in hounding the kids to win in competitions that t...

Re: Time to batter the fish wives? Grimsby (A) - Sat 17th Apr 12:30 KO

the founder of the Olympics, Baron Pierre de Coubertin, said "The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not winning but taking part; the essential thing in life is not conquering but fighting well. If you should be playing football against Grimsby, this does not apply. You must seek to win at...

Re: Tonight's Football

Watched two women's international foot ball matches this last week, England v France and Canada.(friendlies) They lost both and looked pretty second rate, although they were without captain Steph Houghton and several key players. Phil Neville did pretty well for them last year but he's left now repl...

Re: Time to batter the fish wives? Grimsby (A) - Sat 17th Apr 12:30 KO

Going off previous of late, a 1-0 win is most likely what we'll get. Anything else is bonus. To end our season not relegated would have been a pipe dream not too long back. Even the most rose-tinted optimists (like me) would hardly dare to hope for where we are now.. Team spirit, good management and...

Re: What are you watching tonight?

Still enjoying Line of Duty, tbf I eat that kind of stuff up. Does feel like the Hastings character has to get one catchphrase in per episode, which grates mildly. Think they've played Ted Hastings character down somewhat this series. He seems to spend a lot of time just space-gazing, nodding wisel...

Re: Dirty Old Town, Salford City (A) - Tues 13 April 19:00 KO

The real real big trick now is to back this up at Grimsby on Saturday. In a way this doesn’t mean much if we go up there and don’t do the business. Win the next two and we have a nice buffer for the Morecambe game. Win the next two and we are very nearly there I’d say. How can you say that? It mean...

Re: Dirty Old Town, Salford City (A) - Tues 13 April 19:00 KO

And of course Dapo wouldn't be playing for us if he had that in his game but you know he's gotta work on something might as well be the final product. Never stop learning, never stop improving, That's what's made Harry Kane, and it's what took Cristiano Ronaldo from showpony to something like Messi...

Re: Dirty Old Town, Salford City (A) - Tues 13 April 19:00 KO

I'd go Dapo-Lee-Isgrove in the 3 of the 4231, although with Lee motoring up and down to help us win in midfield it's more of a 4-3-3 – with MJ sat behind Tomo and Lee as the Warhurst to their Farrelly and Nolan. I know Lee isn't historically a goalscorer but he keeps getting into good positions and...

We have a good defence as proven by performance. Keep em out and get two goals and we can sail into Grimsby ( horrible name) on Saturday with aplomb. Been to Hull a few times, but never Grimsby. So...COME ON YOU WHITES... :oyea: :oyea:

Re: Remaining fixtures

I suspect most others will be similar TD (though not necessarily). All games moved from 3pm Sat so they don't clash with Prince Philips's funeral. Make it that what you will. Utterly bonkers is what I make of it. But there we are. As consort to the monarch of our country for some 70 years? I'm resp...

Ah,thanks. Hadn't thought of that after reading his funeral was to be just a family affair.

Grimsby game switched to 12:30pm ko on Saturday.
If we win everybody's under pressure knowing it before they kick-off; lose, and fate needs to deal a kind hand. Solution: win. We need not to lose tomorrow first. Still nerve twitchy time. Hope Madison leaving like that has no effect on the lads.
