Re: What will you do in 2014 to help children beat cancer?

Can this guy not post anything without getting ripped into? He's trying to raise money for what appears to be a very worthy cause, not facilitate those that were either too stupid or too idle to get their entry together. If people want to get involved then do. If not then climb down off of your whi...

Re: What will you do in 2014 to help children beat cancer?

I feel there's some carefully worded "avoiding of the question" going on here. So after all the help and assistance, if they still only have £50 what happens? Everyone who we've had to give a bit of extra help to has managed to raise it so there's no worries there. If you're not interested in suppo...

Re: What will you do in 2014 to help children beat cancer?

It's just the "committing" to it bit that doesn't sit well with me... If I wanted to do the run. But only raised £50, yet couldn't afford the other £100 due to circumstances, what would happen? We would help them however we could to raise the final £100. We can provide fundraising materials and ide...

Re: What will you do in 2014 to help children beat cancer?

So if they only raise £50... They have to give you the other £100 themselves, or not do it at all, but still give you the £50 they initially raised? That about it? No one is stopped from doing an event - not sure where that's come into it. We would like loads of people to take part and have a good ...

Re: What will you do in 2014 to help children beat cancer?

Just looked at your website, there is no mention of staff or chief executive. Can you provide a link or information as to who they are? Certainly. We're a charity which has 4 members of staff and we were established in 2002. If you would like further information on the structure etc, please feel fr...

Re: What will you do in 2014 to help children beat cancer?

As with all events, be they shark dive, run, zip slide or abseil, we don't get anything for free I'm afraid. Organisers need to cover their running costs just as much as we do. If you would like to take part in any of the events that would be great. Hopefully the lowered sponsorship targe for the Ma...

Re: Dive with Sharks for Charity!

Pies and tramps aside, Shelter's annual turnover is probably about 15 times as much as ours is and we're the only charity which was specifically set up to research treatments and cures specifically for childhood cancers. However, charity in any form, be it taking part in an event for us, or indeed g...

Re: Dive with Sharks for Charity!

I guess that's a 'no comment'?! To your original post? Not at all. Allow me to continue. The idea behind the event is for people to "face their fear" and do something with real risk in order to raise vital funds for our research. It's unfortunate that the cost is not brought down by the aquarium, b...

Re: Dive with Sharks for Charity!

Do you (KidsCan) have to pay the Blue Planet Aquarium for the slots, or do they (Blue Planet Aquarium) give them up as their own charitable donation? Hello! We buy the Shark Dive places from Blue Planet Aquarium and then encourage people to raise the sponsorship. We don't receive any discounts from...

not really "FREE", then, is it? not if you have to raise £300 to take part. Hi thebish, It's free as you don't have to pay an entry fee. You have to raise £350 in sponsorship, but we can help you there. We provide personalised sponsorship materials and can give you ideas to boost your fundraising. ...

Re: Dive with Sharks for Charity!

Hi Everyone, Rather than making a new thread, I thought I would locate the old one! Hopefully you're all still keen to take part in a charity shark dive. Just in case you've forgotten, it's in aid of KidsCan, the children's cancer research charity. We've just booked in a new dive date - Saturday 7th...
