Interesting analysis DSB. Looking forward to next Saturday's game, especially to see Hickman have a go at them.
Also, can I say how much I enjoyed 'giant maternal mammary' as a metaphor for the centre circle? Lovely stuff.

"I understand it’s frustrating. I’m as frustrated as everybody and I get that. I also get that I’m in the history of managers that’s lost their first four games in charge but that doesn't bother me, because I know what’s coming. I’m more than confident in myself and my abilities and today is the da...

:conf: Seems Evatt is quite pleased and claims we were mugged!

In mugging terms the first goal was the equivalent of standing in the middle of Toxteth waving a wad of £50 notes around with your eyes closed.

64% of the possession to us, according to Auntie - and for what? At what point does the cry of "Get the fecking thing up there" come about? Get the quill and parchment out and gerrim told! He obviously ignored my letter. Have seen both goals. Seems like my decision to inhale lead paint dust all aft...

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

I think Ian willed it to happen but the universe did not yield to his positive vibes on this occasion.
Seriously though, if it really looked like it was on I and he really wanted him, it was worth waiting for. It's not like it's deadline day already. Also we now have some spare cash.

As for what I think Evatt will do: Santos-Baptiste-Greenidge, Jones-Tutte-Sarcevic-Gordon, Crawford, Fonz-Doyle. Week on the training ground and our statement is "we're that good we don't need a keeper" :-) The lack of discussion necessary over Crellin's place is a credit to him and an answer to th...

Re: I don't think I like Ian Evatt much, but this is why I think he will succeed here.

Many of history's finest managers have struggled to locate the line between loquacious and garrulous. Having little or no filter made Brian Clough relatively rich (via TV and newspapers) but cost him the chance of the England job. It made Sam Allardyce a big figure but also cost him the England job...

Re: Division Four, 2020-?

Noticed our league cup conquerors Bradford got spanked 5-0 at home by Lincoln. I don't subscribe to the 'concentrate on the league' school of thought, but I think I'm slightly grateful we got knocked out!

Re: I don't think I like Ian Evatt much, but this is why I think he will succeed here.

The management bullshit and the self-help guru stuff is off-putting, I agree. When anyone in a leadership role tells me " The Secret" changed their life I have to control my facial expressions fairly dramatically. For Evatt to follow it up by saying positive thinking affects the fabric of the unive...

Re: I don't think I like Ian Evatt much, but this is why I think he will succeed here.

I think worthy sums up with 'management speak bullshit' what has put me off so far, plus all this brand-talk as bwfci points out. Phoenix seemed a bit too keen on himself in that one interview too. Both have limited experience and at much smaller clubs. If they back it up I'll be delighted, but alwa...

Comley is a big problem I think. Very poor yesterday, probably the worst. With a decent shield in his position that defence might get away with a lot more. He's played quite a few games at this level and is still young, so I'm not for writing him off. Also not sure who else can play that role effect...
