Re: Kick off with a glass or two of claret!

Is your house stacked full of items that you neither want nor need? not sure I agree with that one. As far as I can see the last time we had this background stuff in place and working was with Sam and it gave us an edge. Look at a lot of other UK sports e.g. athletics & cycling and the sports scien...

Re: Kick off with a glass or two of claret!

Same people. Pretty much same equipment. Mark Leather was last at the club in 1999/2000. Prestidge was here previously, but has been given a load of new toys including HD motion tracking cameras round the stadium, new devices to monitor players during games and in training etc. And has been given a...

Re: Kick off with a glass or two of claret!

I've said that before - not just for youth - that the infrastructure of the club (sports science et al) should not be in the hands of every manager to change at a whim, but a resource made available to every regime. Despite how exciting the things Dougie does may or may not appear o be doing, if he...

Re: Kick off with a glass or two of claret!

But, again, its been said before that we're doing "targeted" stuff with the youth and reserves. it doen't sound significantly different to what's been in place since Sam was here. And whats to stop another Kyle Bartley situation arising? (given the new nature of our backroom, are we to expect a new...

Re: Kick off with a glass or two of claret!

indeed the conundrum is for all the money and facilities put into academise etc the quality of UK footballers still seems relatively poor and to compete in the premier is seems you have to stuff your teams full of foreign players throw on top of that the competition for kids is as intense as ever - ...

Re: Adam Bogdan

While combined with Dawson he performed well. He does need that good one by his side though. Indeed. Likely Freedman wouldn't have bought Knight or Wheater, but for now it's what he's got. I'm sure we'd all like Jack Charlton (some even as he is now no doubt), but Knight alongside Dawson was good e...

Re: Kick off with a glass or two of claret!

some pretty hard invulnerable types on here from what I saw he had his ankle stamped on - when he had the trainer on. when you see it on slo mo I was surprised he carried on. and then it looked like it gave way when he was trying to get dribble on the edge of their box. ergo no blood or break = soft...

Re: Kick off with a glass or two of claret!

thought they came out quick & furious, but after 10 mins the 1 st half evened out. disappointed with us in 2nd half. ball retention and control of game generally poor. their most dangeous player & play all game stemmed from their right back. constantly overlapping and putting dangerous crosses just ...

Whether what we have will work or nit remains to be seen but an extra one ... for £1m ??
perhaps we are going for the coylesque 1 1 8 formation ( it must be something about managers who are scottish & ex forwards) !

Re: Championship 2013/14 Predictions

1) Watford, Us, QPR, Reading, Forest, Wigan. 2)2nd 3)Eagles 4)Medo 5)Beckford. I don't get this 'to be a flop you have to have high hopes' thing. From who? Obviously not the person predicting them to be a flop?! kinell, its sharp on here IMO to flop is to fail miserably, and to judge the failure th...

Re: Championship 2013/14 Predictions

1) Top 6 teams and Order - Brighton, Watford, QPR, Leicester, Us, Wigan 2) Bolton finishing position 5th 3) Bolton top scorer Eagles (strikers won't play enough games) 4) Bolton Player of the season - Tierney (he'll get stuck in and pump up the crowd) 5) Bolton flop of the season - to be a flop you ...

Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread

Depends against which business model you judge. don't think many clubs make money. Think our recent run in prem was exceptional and the books say we were punching well above our weight to survive and get the players in. Relatively small crowds, sponsorship, tv appearance money. Even the edge we got ...

Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread

I quite like Craig Davies. Am I on my own? He's certainly too good for wolves. Wonder if Ricketts has had a word? Same here. Think he's a decent impact sub Would rather keep him than Sordell or NGog. Nah. Ngog is our best forward for hold up play/ general skill & ability. Sordell has still the pote...

I quite like Craig Davies. Am I on my own? He's certainly too good for wolves. Wonder if Ricketts has had a word? Think he's ok but nowt special. From what I've seen I think he's a young SKD ish in his ability to physically unsettle opposition, but I fear he may have the same scoring return, partic...

Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread

Its the notion that selling players = bad. Fecking hell... Except, nobody is saying that... Good. So it's irrelevant who we sell to then? How can it be irrelevant ? Its a factor just like all the others in my etc list. Why though? I mean I can see the thing about not selling to "direct rivals". But...
