Re: General Chit Chat

Not a pop, I know TD is trying to help and for those who have faith it must be nice to want to share it with others. In one. I get that lots of people with faith take great comfort in prayer and their religion. What I dont get is why Tango would be urging those of us without faith to pray. It makes...

Re: General Chit Chat

Now is the time to pray before you go to bed. Much can be gained with nothing to lose. I urge you to spare just a few minutes to pray it will end soon. Think of all the poor kids in the world. Laugh at me if you will, but as a lifetime Christian, I believe. You should too. Pray to God who is mightie...

Re: The Politics Thread

I really felt for a young couple I met in Abersoch on Thursday. They'd sunk their life savings into buying a cafe/beach shack business there and were all on course to open on April 1st but are now looking at no income for the foreseeable future. I really admire folk who are prepared to take such ris...

Re: General Chit Chat

There's undoubtedly some tossers behaving in a selfish manner but on a more positive note we're also seeing the very best of people too. Friends and neighbours looking out for each other, colleagues going above and beyond. We'll get through this as a nation no problem, although I suspect that the la...

90s at Burnden was Children by Robert Miles.

First few years at Reebok was The Wanderer song that the club commissioned. Not the Dion one

I dont understand this talk of immunity as last week it was said it could be caught twice, so catching this once isn't like catching chicken pox :conf:

Starting where we left off, reduced break and pre season, condense next season? I can hear Pep, Klopp and co with the 50 man squads squeal now...

Every answer has a counter problem.
And theres the rub. Whichever way they jump someone's going to be hugely pissed off.

Re: COVID-19/20 season

Making the season null and void then would be less controversial than declaring the current placings the final position and promoting and relegating all those that occupy the relevant places now. Would it? Would it really? Given the ongoing hoo-haa over our punishment, you think clubs deleteriously...

Re: COVID-19/20 season

Definitely take the club in league 1 option.

There is an argument to be had that if this season is declared null and void, we've still been punished and shouldn't have another deduction in August.

Re: COVID-19/20 season

If it was declared null and void, you can just imagine the wailing from across the Pennines next season if we're not made to start the season on minus 12 again

Re: COVID-19/20 season

Miles, miles more chance of legal trouble if they just end the season now than if they cook up some other method and push that through. They're not going to make a decision for a while yet. The EFL aren't renowned for speedy responses to tricky situations. If come July there's still no football bei...

Re: COVID-19/20 season

I must admit, I can't see beyond Insane's scenario above. If footy is immediately played after the current suspension ends, then we're still likely to run well into June and the issues that brings with it - cancelling Euros, extending playing contracts etc I think it's more likely that the suspensio...

Re: What are you watching tonight?

Fleabag is the best TV programme I've seen for years. But you don't like Iron Maiden so all your opinions are invalid. I've no strong opinion on Iron Maiden as the last thing I heard of theirs was about 1981. Run to the hills, number of the beast? I assume they've done something else since then as ...

Played them 4 times in our history and lost every one. We're weaker now than in any of those previous meetings.

1-0 win. Politic.

Anyone going?

I couldn't see him very well from my viewpoint but he was on his feet, rightly bollocking Politic for his lack of end product after a chance went begging.

Re: Don the tin helmets and Plough on regardless, AFCW (A) 7/3/2020 3pm9

Well I thought we played ok ae:) We were easily the better team in the first half. About even in the 2nd. I do accept that a (another).season of shite has significantly lowered my expectations. My main concern today was our support, the quietest we've been away all season with very few staying to cl...

This Country is so, so fecking good. Bruce's endorsement too means I'll give this a try. I think it was you who recommended the excellent Nighty Night, still one of the funniest things I've ever seen. You did blot your copybook with Fleabag though. I sat through a series and a half of that over rat...

Re: FV Recruitment Model

And now FV appear to have appointed SJM into an 'ambassadorial' role. I can see the sense in this, however, SJM's always one to come down on the side of the supporters (most notably during the Anderson situation). I wonder if now having to toe the club line might conflict him a little? That said, I...
