Re: League One 25/26 - the Runners and Riders, or Schumacher's First Strike

Thanks DSB - I'm feeling better again now!

Worthy - I think you're onto something there. Eve of the new season let's have everyone's promotion and relegation picks. See who's closest next May and who are the wildly optimistic ones on here who will back us for top 2 or 6.

Re: League One 25/26 - the Runners and Riders, or Schumacher's First Strike

Aye. Not wishing to sound unduly negative but you could make a case for any of the following to have a strong season;

Luton, Cardiff, Plymouth, Stockport, Orient, Wycombe, Huddersfield, Blackpool, Peterborough, Wigan and Rotherham.

Re: League One 25/26 - the Runners and Riders, or Schumacher's First Strike

An early indicator to see whether the collective backbone has indeed been strengthened.

Re: League One 25/26 - the Runners and Riders, or Schumacher's First Strike

Blackpool have done some decent business: Horsfall, Ihiekwe (experienced CB pairing), Honeyman with midfield nous, and Ennis for being a defender's pain in the neck. And, for all his faults, a pretty decent manager too. I'm quite jealous of the business they've done. They should be up their challen...

Re: Are we up for the cups in 2025/26?

Yep. The coldest I've ever been at football although Liverpool in the cup at Burnden runs it close. I did spend one post game at Oldham cowering in a railway tunnel while an array of masonry was chucked down at us. Happy days :D

Re: Are we up for the cups in 2025/26?

Ooh nice. Hopefully Oldham is away so I can have a nostalgic trip to Boundary park. Hopefully with Hutchinson in nets getting valuable game time.

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread

Rubbish? Dreadful?

Rather emotive those Insane, and unfair on those two imo.

FWIW - I'm ok with this. Should the worst happen we can always get an emergency loan in as cover, cant we?

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread

We should be expecting to hear about outgoings soon, right? … right? The players I think might leave this summer, in descending order of confidence: Lolos - Schumacher clearly doesn't rate him, but he hasn't been horrific since he's been with us, is fairly young, and isn't a walking injury. At the ...

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread

We don't know how it was handled in the Schumacher-Dan conversation. These things can be done with tact and sensitivity. And everybody knows football is brutal. Philliskirk on Rioch: Bruce Rioch was ruthless. And I don’t mean that unkindly. I know his son Greg, who works at Wigan, and we talk about...

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread

Didn't Collins play wide at Bristol? Wide attacker or some such modern phenomenon? I recall his debut(?) where he put a peach of a cross in for our equaliser v Barnsley. I am struggling after that though tbf....

Some site or other reporting the Jacobs deal as done too.

It'll be some window this when it opens!

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread

Are you both mad?!! 😉 1.5m was apparently the going rate for a mard arse midfielder with an occasional bit of flair. 1.5m was also the going rate for a lower division goalscorer in a Championship reserve side who can't win a header to save his life. Collins is absolutely worth more than both. All th...

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread

Collins has been about our only player this past 18 months who could conjure a goal out of nothing. If we are letting him go I hope we're properly cashing in and getting above his market value (imo £1.5m). It makes no sense to me to let him go on the cheap.

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread

This is akin to Sarc to Stockport for me. I'd be shocked if either us or the player are even considering it but the fact its being talked about suggests there's something in it.

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread

Four-year deal caught my eye Yeah, he better be good… A four year deal for a lad who's 25 and relatively unproven is actually quite a massive risk. I get that we've probably beaten out competiton from the divison above due to giving him a longer deal, but I really hope we don't get burned again her...

Very happy with this. Just need another like him, a keeper and 3 mad bastards who can play at centre half or def mid.

A good link discussing possibilities for us. Some great potential players in there.
