Re: Pre-season frendlies

What’s the verdict on Dixon after pre-season then? Is he good enough to start for a top half League One team? Jury's out for me. I've seen him live twice now and he's made good saves in both, however there's something about him that doesn't fill me with confidence. His stature is quite slight compa...

Re: The Olympics

Anybody else got mixed feelings about Dina Asher Smith failing in the 100 metres and then pulling out of the 200 as well because she was a big hope of a medal but as she’d insisted that, despite warnings from the IOC not to, at the medal ceremony she’d be taking the knee on the podium? Maybe that a...

Re: CLUB BUSINESS/SUNDRIES ETC.

I'm afraid I'd have rather more faith in the ability of Eddie Davies to assess whether a business plan was credible or not. I wouldn't. Not based on his exit strategy at BWFC. Are you a qualified accountant and self-made multi-millionaire with worldwide business interests and a string of Queens Awa...

Blimey, that's tough TW :( Some good performances out there today. Dapo and Bakayoko gave them a lot to think about in that first half. I'll be surprised if we come up against a better front 3 this season than Rovers trio, yet for an hour we barely gave them a sniff. The changes and their quality to...

Half time, 1-0. We've been excellent - far and away the better team. Dixon has only had 1 save to make. Afolayan has their right back on toast. Sheehan looks a future captain. Playing some lovely football, and the goal came direct from a corner Summed up beautifully. Only thing I'd add - Oh Bovril!...

Re: Homecoming. Rovers (H) in pre-season, 31/07/2021, 3pm

Just decided to go to this after our original plans for the day were cancelled. No idea how many will turn up and whether there'll be enough turnstiles open. I see Sunderland had 4000 still outside for their friendly last night. Wigan didn't seem to have any issues with their game though :D Should b...

Re: The Olympics

Awesome performance in the mixed triathlon. GB still smashing it in the pool and more athletics this weekend. Finest moment so far has been the BMX. Never thought I'd ever be saying that!

Re: CLUB BUSINESS/SUNDRIES ETC.

I'm afraid, Bruce, that PG was correct. The debt due to Eddie was not the problem. The club's problem was the recurring annual deficits that relied on Eddie keep putting in more and more. That couldn't last and it didn't. The recurring annual deficits that ultimately, Eddie kept signing off through...

Re: Season Predictions

It's an odd division where I can see a case for the likes of Wigan, Wycombe, Sheffield Wednesday and Lincoln being promoted or relegated. Sunderland, Ipswich, Pompey and Rotherham will all likely fancy their chances too. I don't think we have the personnel or the firepower to seriously challenge. I'...

Sully Kaikai got himself a club yet?
Aye, he's signed for Wanderers. Wycombe Wanderers.
I thought he might have landed a bigger gig but I suppose as a relegated side, they've a realistic chance of being one of the front runners this season.

Re: The Olympics

Athletics easily my favourite events but generally I'll watch anything GB are competing in apart from horsey shite and synchronised swimming. Every time though I do try to catch a bit of the handball. A fast paced sport, that's massive in parts of Europe but has just never taken off here.

Re: Pre-season frendlies

Decent enough performance. Possibly a draw would have been the fairest result. Neither side created much. First half they played quite a few direct balls into and around our box but apart from one early header didn't really threaten. Like many times last season, we were a bit too pedestrian at times...

How's he, or any of us for that matter, been led up the garden path? In your desperate need for attention, and I realise I'm not helping by responding, you've dragged this along to 8 pages. And what big reveal have you done? What smoking gun have you discovered that the rest of us were too thick to ...

A couple of things that stood out for me in that lot.

Kioso was such a threat.
We played some lovely stuff at times.

Re: What are you watching tonight?

So, are we being United Kingdom, Great Britain or what? See, I cheer like mad for the wee Scots lass , Laura Muir, every time she runs; she's amazing. She's a Brit for me. It's GB in the Olympics. I'm like you TD, I support all the athletes who are representing GB. There's a significant amount of w...
