Re: Bye bye wigan!
Happy with that ...Anyone who doesn't play the Martinez way is great in my book :D Happy with another bloke with zero experience...aye ok then. He saved Hull City from going out of the football league in 1998 as Player Manager, and also spent a few years managing Royal Antwerp in Belgium. Add that ...

Re: The Day I Met A Footballer
Last year, I spent an evening in the company of former Newcastle Utd, Portsmouth & Stoke City defender, Andy Griffin.
It was my wife's school reunion, and Andy Griffin was in the same year as her.
Very quiet & unassuming fella.

Re: Bye bye wigan!
People used Caldwell as an argument for inexperience sometimes working. But he took Wigan up last season on a massive budget. Far bigger than ours now. There was no evidence as to how good a manager he was. This season was the test and I think showed he wasn't really up to the challenge. We weren't...

Re: Bye bye wigan!
feck him. Worst defender in Premier league history. Murderers eyes and teeth that don't fit his mouth He was a fvckin clogger and he can fvck off In his playing days we used to call him Captain Calamity  To be honest, he didn't actually make that many mistakes at the back, though the ones he w...

Re: Bye bye wigan!
Cheers Bud. How's ALF getting on? No worries mate :D When he gets on he plays really well, he brings a lot of energy & enthusiasm to the team. Sadly, with Caldwell's 1 upfront philosophy, he hasn't had a full game yet. He can't play at all against Cardiff on Saturday due to his loan agreement ...Ma...

Re: Bye bye wigan!
Dougie Freedman has been mentioned... Actually he's bookies favourite for the Wolves job. Now that would be funny. I think every out of work manager has been mentioned at some point in the last 24 hours  and when you start slagging your own fans off in public, there's no way back unfortunately...

Re: Bye bye wigan!
Pretty harsh on a bloke who took them back up, not to give him a lot longer imo. Pearson or Giggs I can see but Sam? Not a chance  It is harsh, but at the end of the day, things weren't working out for him, his recent pre/post match interviews had a real air of desperation about them, ...

Re: Bye bye wigan!
Been on the cards for a few weeks now, unfortunately.
He got roundly booed off the pitch at Full-Time on Saturday.
I don't think having a dig at the fans in his post match interview helped much either.
Big Sam in the frame as his replacement, along with Nigel Pearson and Ryan Giggs...

Re: Swindon (A) 08/10/16 1pm - Match Thread
BBC has 3 matches postponed due to insufficient players. Is there a plague or summat over there? I noticed that. Perhaps it's got something to do with the international weekend? Correctamundo! Walsall paid a very heavy price for International call ups last season. We was neck & neck with Wa...

Re: Out, damned Spotland, I say. Rochdale (A) 27/9/16
Alreet, your resident Wigan fan here... I did say at the end of last season that League 1 is a tough league to get out of, we didn't start coming good until after Christmas last season (yes, we were always in touching distance of the Top 6 but only in February did we really start cranking the gears ...

Wigan. Bolton. Talks on about a move for left back Andrew Taylor to swap clubs ... Another one who I have never heard of before. Left back or left midfield played previously for Boro, Cardiff and Wigan. Wiki have him being only 5 ' 10". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Taylor_(footballer,_born_...

Re: The breaking News thread...
This is all a bit of mess, isn't it? The way I see it is, unless there is a 100% guarantee that the takeover will be completed by Friday the 18th. The takeover or administration will have to happen before the 17th, otherwise you run the risk of copping a 12 point deduction for next season, and given...

Re: The breaking News thread...
Tough old league is League 1 ...There's a lot of bloody good teams down here. Refereeing is atrocious though, when we played Millwall at the DW earlier on in the season, and one of their defenders slipped over in his own box with no Wigan players within 10 yards of him, The ref gives a free kick for...

I'd hate to burst anyone's bubble, but this sounds well dodgy to me.
I hope for your sakes it isn't, but I would tread very carefully with a fella like this.
Also, wasn't his company, shirt sponsors of Juventus when Gaddafi's son was in charge...
