Re: Remaining fixtures
FT Crawley 1-0 Cheltenham. The visitors only had one attempt on target.

Re: Time to batter the fish wives? Grimsby (A) - Sat 17th Apr 12:30 KO
The manager subbed Morais at half-time, immediately after the Glasgow air-kiss, so he obviously thinks there was enough "six and two threes" about it to punish both - and to warn their team-mates. As BWFCi notes, some managers will accept that diminution of resources in order to galvanise the rest, ...

Re: Time to batter the fish wives? Grimsby (A) - Sat 17th Apr 12:30 KO
I'd be gutted if we scored 8 at the Camp Nou, too. It would hardly register up there with the 1-0 defeat to Newport where we played some decent football. If it wasn't about results, I wouldn't be watching. Sorta the point of any sport is to try and win. by that rationale, mate, some on here would s...

Re: Time to batter the fish wives? Grimsby (A) - Sat 17th Apr 12:30 KO
Once it becomes about results then I might as well just support Bayern Munich or something. sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Bayern got knocked out of the champion league this week . I thought its best you know. So I heard, KP - as it happens last night I looked at non-D4 results for the firs...

Not for me, mate. I doubt it would have been quite the nice day out if we'd played that lot.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Thu Apr 15, 2021 12:23 pmI got to see us win there in the Torquay game (although I'm pretty sure we'd have all rather played Wolves).

To be perfectly frank I don't give a tin shit what people think of the type of football I prefer – you're all entitled to be as wrong as you like. Loving the ball, passing it about, dominating the game – that's the style of football I love, the style of football I loved under Rioch and the...

Re: Time to batter the fish wives? Grimsby (A) - Sat 17th Apr 12:30 KO
:D I love Eric Morecambe. Genuinely one of the best compliments I’ve ever been paid was when a workmate said I reminded him of the great man. (Maybe I’ve lived a life short on compliments.) I’ll also applaud Morecambe FC for the season they’ve had, but I would hate to have to watch them. I know it’s...

Re: Remaining fixtures
Nice night last night. We beat Salford; Newport could only draw 0-0 at home to Carlisle; and although Morecambe beat George Taftenbauer's Scunthorpe 4-1 (from five shots on target), best of all was that Tranmere lost - at Walsall, who after previously winning one in 20 have now beaten FGR & Tranmere...

Re: Contract expiry
A balance definitely needs to be made though, I would be reticent to do another complete overhaul as we can't afford another poor start to the season like this one. For that reason, I reckon we'll retain half of the lads out of contract and attempt to make John, Dapo and even Elbouzedi permanent. A...

Re: Remaining fixtures
Carlisle would be my tip. Can you imagine if we played them in the play-off final?! I still have absolutely no idea as to why these things are played at Wembley. Reminds me of the Tranmere game. Absolutely nobody was there for a day out. Indeed. On the telly Elton Welsby predicted 70,000. As it was...

Not quite - 15 victories by single-goal margins, rather than 1-0s, although we've had nine of them.

Re: Remaining fixtures
If you were a Tranmere fan you might feel like looking over your shoulder a bit nervously. Still to play Salford abs Bradford chasing play off spots and FGR who are clinging on for a play off spot. Then also Colchester and Barrow from the other end. Nothing simple there for them. Vaughan is apparen...

Re: Contract expiry
Some tricky decisions coming up with the lads out of contract this summer. Baptiste - Probably gets another year. Brockbank - Not been playing so who knows, but I'd say maybe give him a one year deal. Delaney - Doubt he'll be offered a contract regardless of which division we're in. Mascoll - Gone....

Re: Contract expiry
We also have a few players contracted until 2022 that we will presumably be looking to shift on. Is it likely we will see a Taft situation with Crawford, Greenidge, Gordon and Comley? I certainly can't see anyone paying a fee for them. Aye, possibly. SUMMER 2021 Permanent contract ending (12): Matt...

Re: Contract expiry
Oh indeed mate but this is the contract thread so we can throw forwards. :pissed: For instance, look at Plymouth. Very similar: formerly in admin, sensible new chairman (Simon Hallett), expansive young manager (Ryan Lowe), promoted last season. Last summer, while only really losing Sarce and McFadze...

Re: Contract expiry
Yeah, I agree, I just liked the internal alliteration. I’m not expecting us to throw money about like a man with no arms - behind every good Evatt is an even better Sharron - but it’s worth noting we could, for example, pay loan fees, which the embargo prohibits. That doesn’t mean I expect us to hir...

Re: Contract expiry
Remember where we were in January. If this is the squad he can pull together when we’re near the bottom of D4 in embargo, I’m excited to see what we might do with a promotion and unfettered finances.

Re: Dirty Old Town, Salford City (A) - Tues 13 April 19:00 KO
Tranmere might get to 80...I suspect unlikely though. What’s the lowest total needed to finish third in last decade or so? 84/5pts is typical for third but Pott Vale in 2013 and Wycombe in 2008 both went up with 78. Over the same period, two teams (inc Bury a couple of years ago) have gone up as ru...
