Re: Nostalgia! Your top three moments being a Wanderer
Is it safe to come back on here now ??? 1. Genuinely the most emotional Ive ever been at a Wanderers match is Hierro's last match v Everton. Was in South Lower near his family and I'll never forget the scenes that day. Wasn't with us long but he was obviously much loved by the fans and his fellow pl...

Re: The Tykes Thread
Not good enought, that, in my opinion. I'm sorry but it just isn't. No urgency. No ambition to win the game. No gile or creativity. Poor. I agree Bowtun. I know we had many shots today on target that went straight at or near the goalkeeper. and that is encouraging that we are in fact creating chanc...

Re: Coyle sacked
Will have to change my username now; or will I now he's (I've) been sacked) ??? Interesting one about Sammy Lee maybe taking over temporarily though. Notwithstanding most supporters would naturally be up in arms with that plan, I guess that he is the only person in the backroom staff with anything l...

Re: Spurs v Bolton - rearranged game on Tues 27th March (7.3
I think most are being quite kind in accepting what seems to be an expected routing; and thats what it was, it was Men vs Boys. Yes Spurs are a good side and move it around very well, and at pace. Yes, there may have been some (parts of) minds on the events of 10 days ago and of the intervening peri...

Re: Owen Coyle
Everything you say OC is true, except for the first line. I think it's obvious what we're doing differently from a tactical point of view. Controlling the midfield and ensuring the back 4 aren't as shockingly exposed.. Well yes I guess I agree indirectly Boris, but I think that control has been bro...

Re: Owen Coyle
I don't really know what different tactics Owen (or the team) are employing now, but the Liverpool game was the first time that I genuinely thought we had a hope in escaping the drop. The Arsenal game continued in a similar vein, even though we spent long periods without the ball (but what team does...

Re: Game Against The Scouse
Excellent performance and we fully deserved the win. Liverpool were only crap because that is all we allowed them to be.
And that was the first time this season that I thought that we have a chance of escaping relegation.
Keep it up boys, something to shout about at last.

Re: Onwards and Upwards Everton vs Bolton (Match thread)
feck me, we had overall 57% possession. When was the last time this happened? away from home too. AMAZING. It makes such a difference when we keep the ball longer, and the stats prove it, as I believe that is the key to our survival. Don't get me wrong we still gave it away several times too easily...

A bit of good news for a change; Cahill's red card has been rescinded.
Is this a change in fortunes ?

Re: Coyle - Time to go? [post-Everton]
Swansea have kept six clean sheets this year. That isn't because Ashley Williams is Paulo Maldini. Firstly, they keep the ball, secondly they are organised without. In other words theyhave a plan and are organised with AND without the ball. We need both IMO, and it isn't that hard. I look t the pla...

Re: Coyle - Time to go? [post-Everton]
Personally I think we do have the ability to play some good stuff and the team is just very low on confidence .. I think they are scared to pass it about in case they lose the ball and the crowd get on there back ... Yes I agree that we have the ability to play it around but, as you point out, we a...

Re: Coyle - Time to go? [post-Everton]
I think we don't defend well because we don't do any work on defensive shape. Players have said this at the start of the season. We're not focussed because Coyle is not an organiser. He's a "lets go out and get at them" manager. And therefore we aren't drilled in defensive focus, shape and strategi...

Re: Coyle - Time to go? [post-Everton]
Fully agree with ChrisC. IMO keeping possession is paramount to us doing something (or being relegated!) at the moment. Although I do tend to share Insane's fear that perhaps (sadly) we are not good enough (or confident enough) on the ball to do this with any regularity. But, we have to strive for t...

Re: Coyle - Time to go? [post-Everton]
Thing is for me, movement, keeping posession, are the LEAST of our troubles. What we need to sort out first is defending, keeping clean sheets, stopping teams scoring from set pieces against us, and becoming a tight, drilled organised unit. We're not good enough to play our way out of this. We are ...

Re: Coyle - Time to go? [post-Everton]
We have a current England centre back. We have an England u21 defensive midfielder. We have a big & very effective target man, who 12 months ago was good enough to pull on an England shirt. We have an international goalkeeper. We have a Croatian international number 9, who's probably the third best...

Re: Would a change of system help
The only change in system I want to see is the one where we keep possession of the ball. But for that to happen then we have got to have players who are comfortable on the ball (not sure other than Holden and possibly Eagles we have those types in our entire squad), players who move and show for the...

Re: owen out
Given my user name, which I selected long before he became our manager, I obviously don't want Owen to go. But we all know that NOT being in the PL is not to be even contemplated. We are struggling to afford keeping in there currently (always have probably) but I fear that our finances are such that...

Re: Ricardo Gardner
I'm gutted that he is leaving, and I must admit that being in the team the last few weeks I though OC was going to extend his stay. I just hope that he gets someone in to replace him who is better, cos that will be a tall order I predict. The thing about Gardner is that he is capable of doing someth...

Re: Elmander signs for Galatasaray
Glad the boos were drowned out by a round of applause as he left the field. I thought it was scandalous that he was boo-ed at all and he should have had the standing ovation that he deserved when he went off; not the half-hearted muffled send-off he actually got. Whatever you feel about his ability...

Re: Would you like to see the club badge changed?
We had this same discussion (if not vote) a couple of years ago. Each to his own, but I'll reply as I did then, that we must be struggling for proper topics if we are moaning about the badge, or what music is played after we score (as in other threads). Some have too much time on their hands I think...
