Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Akpan has known fitness and attitude issues, which is presumably why he's at Burton in the first place. He'd be a risk.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

There are players about. That's always the case. They'll all have catches and qualifiers attached, though. Some lads have injury histories, others might have a known behaviour issue etc. We won't limit ourselves to England and Scotland with the agents and stats working how they do these days, but I'...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

To my mind we need 20 trusted, first team players - plus half a dozen lads the coach feels can step up, or short-term loans until January. I'd say 25 is more like the actual "minimum" number of available players you need over a season and that's probably low for us, as we have a few injury prone pla...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Really. We've made it clear that Amos is surplus to requirements, for a start. His wages are too high to not get rid if we can. The two right backs listed we were actively trying to replace, with only Little being anywhere near what we need. Adam Le Fondre is a player PP seemingly doesn't rate up to...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Pritchard and Johnson are two players who looked like they might be something but never kicked on - Pritchard especially was someone Spurs fans were talking about in the 15/16 season. Never heard of Duke-McKenna, but if Everton have let him go at 17 then he's unlikely to walk into the team. I'd ass...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

One of the few benefits of having sod-all money is that we might see the academy graduates get more chances. Glad to see Earing get a contract.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Depends who you view as a "striker" and whether players who play as forwards count. I'd not be surprised to see Kazenga Lualua at the Macron, but he's more of a winger. For proper strikers, Nouha Dicko is supposedly available for loan and I'd not be shocked by that either - but there are a lot of "f...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

I'd rather keep Ameobi than lose him, but if we have a tight wage structure I'd not break it to keep him. He's a decent player at this level, but you only break a wage structure for something really special and he's not that. Are we likely to find better? Probably not. Are we going to piss players o...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Not a huge fan of Donaldson as a Championship player. Very good in League One, but I used to go watch Brentford quite a bit and his runs and ability to find space are iffy for the top two leagues. At 34 he might be worth a squad place, but I'd not want to rely on him as a first choice player over a ...

Re: Who's going down to League One in 2019? Bolton?

Impossible to say at this stage of the summer. I don't think the aim is to finish fourth from bottom, although I expect to hear that sort of thing from the club from time to time. I think they'll look at the struggles of some in the division and believe they can do enough business to stay reasonably...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

I'm not surprsed about Morais at all. He was a backup at best. You do know that we need 'backup' players, don't you? And Morais is exactly the sort of player who can make an impact in the last 15 minutes coming on off of the bench. As a backup fine but I'm guessing he wanted more wages or more of a...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

The Morais story doesn't say the club made no attempt to contact him, nor that they didn't inform him. It says he only found out when he saw it online and that they hadn't spoken to him directly. If he's been off with his academy project then they could have attempted to contact him and failed. It'l...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Ozzy's assist rate will depend upon our set-pieces and who we bring in, by the looks of it. Walsall fans seem to be very keen on him, but the general view seems to be that they didn't make the most of his corners and free-kicks. If he only gets 3 assists next season (assuming he starts) then it'll b...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Happy with Lowe - potential captain, and certainly ticks the box in respect of Henry/Pratley. Oztumer had a good game against us....clearly worth a shot a stepping up. Definitley feels exciting in terms of the type of player he is. Surprjsed about Morais as well - hard worker and done a job at both...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

I am pleased with the business that has been done so far. Lowe isn't a sensational player, but he does put a shift in and we need energy in the middle of the park - plus he can pass a football, which might help. He's had a tough time since leaving Rovers, but he's a Wigan lad and being back in the a...

Re: CRUNCH TIME. Away at Baaaarnsley. Saturday Apr14th 3pm

Bad result, all things considered; but given our away record probably more than we could expect. Eventful game and gutting to drop the points the way we did. McBurnie has been a phenomenal loan signing for them and might keep them up on his own.

Re: CRUNCH TIME. Away at Baaaarnsley. Saturday Apr14th 3pm

A draw isn't enough, given our home fixtures. 3 points or bust. I 'm betting Barnsley will have exactly the same mind-set. They have an added edge of being at home and knowing we're not the Bolton of old. Their manager will have done his homework and I'm thinking they'll tear at us right from the o...

We saw what he was able to do with a shithouse like Nadine (0 goals for Cardiff btw).
If we stay up you can look forward to him coming back on loan, I suppose.
