Re: We are (hopefully) staying up: the opposition
are there really three other teams crapper than us in this division?????? Maybe. Sunderland and Burton are toast. Birmingham have turned it around with their new boss. That leaves Barnsley and the outsiders, Reading. We've run out of all the breathing space our decent period got us. We now look abo...

It depends whether you think Parky is holding the players back, or setting them up so that they at least don't get thrashed 0-4 every game. Parky will point out that we're at least going into the last few games with a chance of staying up, rather than being rock bottom and already down.

Re: Lion tamers or clowns? Bolton v Millwall Tuesday Apr 10th 8 pm. .
If you want to play a fancy, intricate system then that takes intensive tactical coaching and players with a level of footballing intelligence. You can't just switch to that sort of thing with 4 games to go - it's something that has to be drilled into players over a number of seasons. The reason mos...

Re: Lion tamers or clowns? Bolton v Millwall Tuesday Apr 10th 8 pm. .
We're asking this set of players, being put out in this negative a fashion, with this little confidence, to win 50% of their remaining games. Not scored in 3 games. Haven't scored more than one in a game since before Christmas - that's 20 games ago. It beggars belief, to be honest. I thought home fo...

Re: Lion tamers or clowns? Bolton v Millwall Tuesday Apr 10th 8 pm. .
Results going our way today just papers over the fact that we are currently looking like a side that'll lose the next 4. Everything now hangs on the Barnsley game. We might stand a chance against Burton, but I doubt anyone thinks we'll get anything out of Wolves or Forest. If we don't beat Barnsley ...

Re: Lion tamers or clowns? Bolton v Millwall Tuesday Apr 10th 8 pm. .
It's a real shame Vela hasn't been able to impose himself on the side this season. I was really hoping he'd emerge as an important player this season, but he's not starting and I find I'm not fussed in the least. As you say, it's a slow back four. It's not like we can push up and take the game to th...

I've not seen enough of Hall to have much of an opinion. The couple of reserve games I've seen he did pretty well and reminded me a bit of Shane Long. Not a big lad, but seemed to put himself about well. Anyone on here seen the reserves regularly and have a properly informed view of him?

Re: Lion tamers or clowns? Bolton v Millwall Tuesday Apr 10th 8 pm. .
Sticking Wheater up front would be admitting defeat. I like Wheats, he's a good lad, but I can't imagine much worse than having him trundling about aimlessly in the final third for 90 minutes. I'd rather they took one of the lads from the reserves than stuck him up top. One of the reasons we go long...

We have a history of ending people's winless runs, not their winning runs. Saying that, I'm going to miss this game and we apparently play better when I'm not there - thus I'll go 2-1 win. Hope, rather than conviction.

Re: We are (hopefully) staying up: the opposition
Just noticed that in 2012 we were relegated after thinking we were fairly safe in March: we won one of the last eight... against Villa. We've now won one of our last eight... against Villa. By that reckoning we an expect to be relegated and then drop through the lower division too. Oh joy :hang:

Re: Can we ram home the point(s), only time wool tell ewe! (A) at Derby, Sat 7th April
I agree that Parky's brand of football is as dull as dishwater, but that's not been helped by the situation at the club and thus his inability to get any real quality into the squad in attacking areas. His football at Bradford was, shall we say, industrial - but their fans liked him well enough. I a...

Even when we win we're usually poor. The only difference in performance comes if we work hard and are poor or don't really try and are poor. The rest of the result is driven entirely by whether the opposition team shows up.

I'm not too down as I expected to lose about 3-0. Then again, the fact I expected to lose 3-0 says it all really. We are dreadful and if we do go down it'll be impossible to claim we didn't deserve it.

5th from top vs 5th from bottom doesn't exactly bode well for us.

Re: We are (hopefully) staying up: the opposition
The team we have at the minute is thrown together from whoever is available on a free and willing to take not much money, plus a load of dross nobody will take off out books. I feel for Parky, in that it's hard to see a way for this collection of players to play successfully. We can't push-up, beca...

Re: We are (hopefully) staying up: the opposition
We've no chance of anything at Derby. For me we've a 3 game season. Barnsley, Burton and Forest. Anything we get against Derby, Millwall and Wolves is an absolute bonus. Think we're going sadly......the writing has been on the wall for some time. Without Madine we have to do too much to get results...

Re: Will we be beating the Blues, or singing the blues? BWFC v Birmingham 3/4/18 8pm
Meh. We're not doomed off the back of it, it was just a chance to be almost certain we'd stay up. If we'd won that I'd not have had a worry, as we'd have taken confidence into the remaining home fixtures. The trouble is that, as I've said on here before, it's our home form that'll decide things. If ...

Re: Will we be beating the Blues, or singing the blues? BWFC v Birmingham 3/4/18 8pm
That was shocking, from both the manager and the players. Parkinson's only way of playing is seemingly to organise some form of defence and then hope the lads do enough to knick one at the other end. There's zero plan going forward, or if there is one then it's bloody moronic. The players have to ha...
