Re: Venarated to the top once, will the Wally repeat the Hollow folly? - QPR (H) 15/09/18

Too long until the game to make predictions, but if Steve doesn't do plenty in the international break to sort them out I think we could take them to the cleaners. Teams can do a lot in that two weeks, though, so we'll see.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Doidge looks a very similar player to Wyke, so I can well believe he was one Parky had high on his list. With the way his career has gone, working his way up and even dropping out of the game for a while, you'd like him to make it. It's a good story.

Re: What gives? The Invincibles (old) v The Invincibles (away). Preston (a) 1/9/18 3pm

Okay, so having watched the game now I'm very pleased with that. The performance was good and it's easily the best football we've played in some time. For all the stick Wildschut has been getting he offers an option regularly and he works hard to recover the ball when players fail to find him. That ...

I think Wildschut was badly affected by the Norwich move not working. He's trying way too hard to impress and it means he takes the ball into situations where even a top class player would struggle. He needs to simplify his game.

An excellent result. I wasn't there, so I can't comment on the performance, but to go 0-2 down and still earn a point shows character and steel. I'm bloody delighted.

It depends on whether we bother to turn up. If we play with desire and commitment then we can get a result. If not we'll take a battering. If all 11 players show up and we get a bit of luck, we can win. I'll be working, but hopefully we'll get a point for the travelling fans.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

If they score goals I care naught how old they are, what league they play in or whether they come from Barcelona or Barton Bridge. Long ball, short ball, beautiful game or Wallop Wanderers matters not at 4-45 0n Saturdays; only the result. In advance, I also care not that B.W.F.C.Insane disagrees. ...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

I'm fine with this one. I'd rather a 26 year old who might have something about him than a 34+ player whose best days are certainly behind him and whose wages eat up that cash anyway.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Striker is a necessity, but that doesn't mean it'll get done. If it does, it doesn't mean Parky will get someone he genuinely wants. Sam Gallagher looks like the best of what is left, but Saints may keep him. Will be interesting and nervy.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

£6 million quid for a striker who got 6 goals last season in the championship? I sort of get Ken’s point! Makes Madine look good value (and yes I know he is young and English). Where are Rovers getting their cash from? Good year for chicken farming? It's the risk you take though. If he does well th...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Vela and Beevers (I think) are both in the final year of their respective deals. From a financial point of view it makes loads of sense to flog them now. Makes no sense on the football side of things, but with the young lad in from Everton I suppose we would only be one short if Vela went and that w...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

If we go off gossip then both Beevers and Vela are likely to leave before the deadline. If that were to happen, the club had better know what they're doing and have replacements lined up in advance.

Re: Blunting the Blades and walking on the Wilder side? BWFC v Sheffield Utd 25/8/18

Okay, having calmed down a bit after the weekend I have a few thoughts. Firstly, Luke Murphy should be embarrassed by that display. Few of the players had a good day, but Murphy was just lazy. I'm still annoyed by that showing and he needs to sort it out. I was a bit annoyed at Buckley, but at least...

Re: Blunting the Blades and walking on the Wilder side? BWFC v Sheffield Utd 25/8/18

I think there will still be the faction that will never be happy with Phil Parkinson. Like those who didn't like Sam Allardyce through the years in which we had our most successful era. Can I just ask where do these people think we should be as a club? If you are using Sheffield United as a benchma...

what about Williams?
He seems to have it all apart from goals - based on his higlights from last year in our division.
There's your issue.

The lad looks a player, but you can't say he can do a particular job based off a highlights reel.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Not sure how anyone would see losing Vela as a good thing, given how much we need his energy in midfield. He's not the most talented midfielder ever, but he's a better footballer than Pratley and he does that job better. We've nobody else in the squad who can do it.

It's also worth noting that it's not true we've come out and been passive from the start against Bristol and Brum. We went at Bristol, in terms of closing, from the off and then had to drop off because the pressing wasn't working well. Against Birmingham we took the game to them initially. It took t...
