Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

Johnson Clarke-Harris has joined Rotherham.

Hahahahaha....oh god, he's going to be an utter terror under Evans. Get us out of this division :D

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm

I think maybe the other way around. If it manages to really excite, then I say, "That was exciting" and if not I don't. The game is driving whether I'm excited by it, not the mindset. Your selling point seems to be "this is much better than where we've been recently." Agree, wholeheartedly. That in...

I'm once again confused. When did I ever say this was my *best* experience supporting the football club?

I that case, I'm not sure how you don't understand some are less excitable than others I didn't say that. What I said is that given where we've been probably since Sam left it's hard to understand how folk aren't enjoying this period. I mean how miserable must they have been before that? We've been...

Hopefully, this might help Ghost understand why some of us aren't quite as excited or excitable, maybe. :-)
I've been going to the matches since the 80s, Worthy.

None of this is news to me.

Nice to see we're getting our final suits for nowt due to a sponsorship arrangement.

Every penny and all that.

If we go up they'll keep those suits forever.

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm

Increased attendances, some great atmosphere, some top away days. This is what gets me, to be honest. Whether someone likes something or not is entirely personal taste and you can't directly question it. However, I do find it confusing at times. The experience of actually going to games, home and a...

Re: Five Year EFL Deal: Death of the 3pm?

Love what she's trying to do. Her desire and ability to do good far outweighs her ability to answer succinctly. I'd much rather her carry on about the good she is trying to do rather than some of the others who have clear self interest. I can understand that. It's a personal taste thing. I'm deligh...

Re: Five Year EFL Deal: Death of the 3pm?

Put this here as it's about the wider football "settlement" but I see Shazza has had some pretty strong words for the parliament select committee dealing with the proposed new regulator, about the "greed" of the big clubs. I think she's right, though I found her extremely trying. She was asked conc...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm

I've loved it. If you said to me we'd lose on sat but win the league next year I'd take it. You can't, obvs, so I'll take a win. But footballs about winning. Yup. I've really enjoyed it. I thought we had a good chance of automatic promotion this season and it's a shame we fell short. I felt very st...

Ethan Erhahon at Lincoln is someone I would like us to look at. Definitely Championship-bound, that lad.
Yup. Would certainly go for him over Luca Connell in terms of value.

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm

Not sure you necessarily have nail on head regarding all our fanbase. Some of our off-day performances since January weigh much more heavily than a Dougie Freedman special, 10 years back. I'd file that under "reasonable concerns." Like I say, Oxford absolutely can beat us. They've been in superb fo...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm

if I were a neutral I'd probably be having a bet on Oxford at the prices. I never check the odds (no footy betting for me), but had a quick look and yes you'd only bet on Oxford. However, I'm not sure I'd expect my money back. Over a decade of getting hammered by footballing realities has trained o...

Words from the captain. To go from almost dropping out of the game to the Championship in 4 seasons would be a massive personal achievement for him.

Okay. Tickets physically in hand makes the whole thing feel more imminent - even if they're just print-outs. Due for a merch delivery from the shop tomorrow, which will ramp it up another notch and allow the kids to decorate the car. Nerves stating a little now. The Tinpot didn't mean much for the f...

Do we actually get a cut? I thought it all goes to EFL/Wembley and we just get a token match fee EDIT: Just read the clubs share 50% of the ticket sales equally between them. Regardless of who sold what.. Yup. Plus merch, TV, sponsorship etc. The club is on track to make ~£1.5m from the play-offs.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

He looked a real talent when he came through, but haven't seen him in a while. The worrying thing is the fairly universal talk of physically struggling. That could just be versus prem players who are monsters (witness 37 year old Ashley young destroying us last year), but it's so important for us. ...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

Leicester forum reaction seems to coalesce around "maybe a lower-half Champo / upper League One player". Most Boro and Blades fans would share that view. Reading through those Leicester pages you get the image of your usual footy forum. Mostly normal folk, mixed in with a load of people who only ex...
