Re: Pre-season, 2024(/25)
Well I for one thoroughly enjoyed that tonight. Thought we looked good. New formation could be effective and might bring the best out of Vic (who I thought was superb all game). If say we more then held it own against a (weakened?) Serie A (presumably) team and possibly had the lions share off the ...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Looks like we should have some movement on transfers next week, so that's positive. Khumbeni, Matheson and Conway are all ready to play first team football - just not for us. They should all be looking to play 30+ games in League Two. They might make decent squad players at this level, but we have s...

I don't know what percentage the price rises represent, but everything *feels* considerably more expensive.

Can't say I've looked at it, but it would seem odd for him to end up back in League One.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 1:38 pmI don't think that there is anything in these Coburn rumours.
He can press, though, yes.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
A couple of early rumours doing the rounds around Josh Coburn on loan - nothing concrete. I'd be very happy with that if it's true. Would be an ideal pick-up. Another one we'd probably not get near if not for injuries. If Boro want to loan him out, great. The fact Collins and Coburn known each othe...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
He’s declared himself for St Lucia and been called up but not played yet. I was going to say "wise choice", given his other options are Italy and England. However, Dunk is currently in the England squad and was just starting to establish himself in the Championship at around that age. So I suppose ...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
If that’s the case and he’s not an overlapping centre half or a b tech baresi then it might signal a return to the 4 at the back…or at least the option to. Could well. Just generally it's probably a recognition that we lacked physicality in the defence any time Rico was out or playing hurt. In his ...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Looks like a moneyball signing. Which is arguably sensible business. Hopefully can do the job. Maybe. I don't think we'd have got near him without his injuries this season and there were buyers there, so if he stays fit here we will probably feel we can make some money. However, I do think he's a f...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
That's a very good signing, just in terms of "Are we showing ambition?"
Wasn't on my list, due to fitness concerns and the fact I thought he'd end up at Stoke. If another League One side signed him he'd be a "statement", though.

Can't say I care much about kits. However, my kids do. Their fashion sense tends to align with the adults who really do care about kits, so I will trust their judgement.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Aye, its ok having a couple of injury prones in your squad, but to stuff half the team with them is just plain stupid. Doesn't matter how good they are if you're having to play Dan or his equivalent 70% of the time in their place. There's a degree of irony in citing Dan as cover for injury-prone pl...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Chris Forino-Joseph, the Wycome centre half, is a name flying around social media at the minute.
Big, strong, quick and good in the air. Good on the ball. Struggles with his fitness.
Seems like a very us signing.
Talented lad. Usual questions about how many games he'll be fit for.

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
Yeah, as it stands we need 4 strikers per game (typically 2 for 20 minutes). So a long term and a Saturday sickie and we're stuffed with 4. I'm prepared to wait and see what the squad as a whole looks like, rather than saying "We have to get exactly this sort of player"; but it does seem to be hard...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
We're definitely a striker short, as things stand. Nludnulu we're not sure on, with his hamstrings. CMG is apparently out beyond preseason. Dion has an MCL injury. Vic wasn't back fit at the end of the season. For a team that absolutely has to have 4 strikers available we are almost certain to be sh...
