^^ Not quite. Had the Derby game ended as a draw, they'd still be on 90 and we'd have been 89...i mean 5npoints in front is pretty decent on a "fine margins call"...
Fair correction. :oyea:

Re: Tonight's Football

I wonder if the fee is increased if they win the league next week. We're due more if he plays 'x' games and we have a sell-on, going off the talk in Germany. He's caught the eye of a couple of Bundesliga clubs, but them going up probably means he won't move this summer. If he does alright and they ...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

It's also reacting to events. 64 of the 72 EFL teams have finished their seasons and are announcing their released/retained lists, and among them will be players we might target. Natural to speculate thereupon (and it fills the nervous days). If we stay down, it's more about who we might lose, but ...

Welcome back! Was wondering where you'd been!!
Cheers. Been a tad busy with work. I find it easier to step back from online stuff as most of my work is on computer and it's too easy to lose an hour or two chatting away. Twitter isn't too bad, but anything long-form is a killer.

They may well do. I said I would not lose sleep over them leaving. Imo, we can do better. Dan has potential but his touch is so poor. We will have to see.
Hopefully we get to find out what a Championship window looks like for us :pissed:

I agree. I don't think I'd lose much sleep over losing JBD, Dan, Victor and Jerome if we did go up. But it's all about who we replace them with
Evatt loves Vic and he called Dan "one of the most talented players at the club", so I think you may find they stay unless there's a big bid for Vic.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

I mean maybe add whatever Bod and Cam are on, combined together, and get thee to t'Queen's Ead. You shouldn't need Vardy numbers. :-) That gives us 5, which we'd likely need to cover injuries, anyhow. If Dion/Collins/Vic are our main 3, then we can take our chances on #5 and whether they have a bet...

Strikers has the capability to "evolve" depending what happens to Bod/Cam. I'd prefer to have an alternative 70 minute option to Dan, unless he's kicked on a bit, post injury.
Anyone got a spare £50k a week to land Jamie Vardy on a free?

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

Who are you expecting to walk if we stay down? I must admit I'm not expecting a stampede. Similar list to the one you mentioned. Santos with a year left. Charles and Vic with known interest. Thomason with a firm Championship offer last summer and being a much better player this time around. I'm als...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

One thing on Coleman, we have no idea what he's like in training. He may be part of a really good department and have loads of value in terms of development. Given that he's a Bolton lad on a low wage he may naturally evolve into a 3rd choice keeper who sets standards and helps the culture. You don'...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

If we do manage to go up, which of those players, especially in the bottom XI, could play in the Champo? If you think someone couldn't, do we loan them out, or attempt to sell ("Hello, Stockport! Hello, Wrexham!") while they've got contract length? Yup. Can we make space if needed? If we stay down ...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

Well, yeah. Of course the number of errors has a direct relationship to them not having the ball and being defensive v them having the ball and attacking. I mean, that just feels intuitively logical. But however good they system is on the front foot. You will need to defend, pretty much every game....

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

An increase in defensive errors is directly related to how much of the ball the centre backs see. In a possession system you want centre halves who can play, but you also don't want them on the ball constantly; because they will always be the most likely to make errors. That's why they're defenders....

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

Hmm, well I wrote a post and then got booted. Plus side, it'll save you all a lot of reading. Basically, the main issues with our defending isn't who's in the back 3, it's where we lose the ball and how often the defenders have possession when we attack. Wide players who can dribble past defenders w...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

Dan surely gets loaned if we go up. Nowhere near good enough for the Championship. The issue is what the manager thinks. Evatt was pretty definite during preseason that Dan can play in the Premier League with the right application and coaching. Obviously that theory isn't going to be tested if the ...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

At the risk of sounding slightly provocative, do any of us seriously think that IF we get promotion, we are going to be trading in the " upper championship" market ?!!?! Surely IF we ply our trade next year in the championship, then we will be trading in the " anything other than bottom 3 of the ch...
