The fifth consecutive time we've lost the first test in the series.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

I'm still not sure about offering a (reportedly well-paid) three-year contract to a thirty-two year old, though.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

I suppose it could be two years with an option for a third year, which would be more reasonable.

Clearly the registration embargo isn't as restrictive as I thought it would be.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

A three-year contract for a 32-year-old, and apparently on "good money". He could be excellent for us, but I feel a tad unnerved by that.

Re: Contract expiry

Mike Pollitt has left the club. I feel for him to be honest, he left a good job to return to his hometown club and now finds himself unemployed. Indeed, it's a shame for him. I note that Ian Evatt has brought with him Lewis Duckmanton, who at Barrow combined the roles of analyst and GK coach. I'd b...

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Iles reports that Crawford turned down offers from clubs in League One to re-sign with us.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Sounds like Ali Crawford is re signing today - great signing for League 2 if true. Where you getting that from, boss? Great news if true. Also note that assuming Evatt sticks to 3-4-1-2, Crawford is could well be the guy to float in that "No10" position, which might suit him down to the ground. If ...

Re: New Manager Thread

He certainly presents himself as a confident character, with strong ideas on what he feels is required to progress. I hope we can provide him with the resources needed to succeed - even good managers have to have good players - and that we are patient enough to allow him the time to put his methods ...

Re: New Manager Thread

Iles tweets that progress has been made. Apparently, the dispute relates to the interpretation of clauses in Evatt's contract.

It seems like we might be on the home stretch.

Re: New Manager Thread

I suspect I'm in a minority of one on this, but Barrow had a poor start to the season and were starting to flag before lockdown. In between, they had a great six months. So, Ian (the only under 40 year old Ian I've heard of 😁) just might not be the Messiah. But, I'll back him if he's our manager / ...

Re: New Manager Thread

I find it curious that we reportedly thought the compensation figure was lower than it is. It can't be written into Evatt's contract as I assume we got our information from his agent, who will surely know the details. That must mean it's just a figure they've come up with, which will presumably be n...

Re: New Manager Thread

Appointing a head coach wouldn't mean there wouldn't also be a position for an assistant. Personally though, I find Lowe less appealing than I think most other people do.

Re: New Manager Thread

I think the point about Lowe and his budgets is something a lot of people have overlooked, especially as we don't yet know what ours might be. I'm unconvinced he's exceptional enough to warrant us going all out to bring him in, and it wouldn't make sense to me to pay so much compensation for him if ...
