Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
My commiserations to all the hard-core supporters on here, more so the poor buggers faced with a long trip home. I don't watch wanderers games anymore but follow some commentary and posts such as on here, these are a few things that seem to stand out. The manger is a reasonable low league manager wi...

Re: General Chit Chat
Had one of those extremely funny episodes on Tuesday at work, sat on the PC when there was sudden squealing and three young female colleagues legging it in different directions. Hey up I thought, what's going on and trundled over for a gander. Turns out there was a large spider in a box they were m...

Re: General Chit Chat
It depends what you are using it for. If it's an extension for the likes of a utility room for dryers, freezers etc, I wouldn't go timber, higher fire risk. Having said that, I moved our freezers and dryer out of the house to a little wooden cabin in the garden but it's away from the house. The othe...

Re: The Politics Thread
Growth is finite, not without limits, those selling it as the constant and only way forward lie. I find it funny how more and more of the real wealthy are slowly backing away from the rise of AI that will eventually kill their market. The youth of today, influencers etc, usually shallow people are a...

Re: The Politics Thread
I just wrote out a longish reply, then realised the futility of bothering. We'll never live in a world where enough is enough. Greed is an incurable disease. "What doth it profit a man if he gains the whole world and suffers the loss of his soul?" Jesus asked. Well, I guess we'll know one day unles...

The real stupidity is those that will pay out that sort of money for a bloody football shirt, then moan about the cost of living.

Phil Foden is a super, special player. Has to start for England. You'd hope so, wouldn't you? Because he's also brilliantly flexible positionally, which would allow for in-game tweaks, let aloine in-tournament. I'm not Southgate (clearly) but I can't see how he leaves him out now, especially in a 4...

Been following the Post Office/Horizon scandal for a number of years with some professional curiosity. The excellent Mr Bates v Post Office nailed it. But there clearly needs people held to account, because some of the statements made are just untenable. I don't for one minute believe, between Fuji...

Re: The athletics/running thread
Anyone any fitness New Year’s resolutions? I’ve barely run at all and want to get back to it but most of my evenings are spent ferrying kids round to their sport so don’t have much time to go with friends and the motivation is not there to go on my own in the daytime before work… I’ll manage some e...

Feel for you, mate. Everyone just walking germ factories over Christmas. Our lot just managed to get to most family do's, but daughter and her fella going to be MIA tonight... This year has been the quietest Christmas and new year ever I think, even quieter than the Covid days. Bugger all on telly,...

Strange Christmas. Wanderers apart, not much to cheer. My brother was in bed a fortnight with Covid and both me and the wife are heaving with coughs and colds right now . All the family have been affected one way or another. Never mind, there are a lot of folk worse off. At least the Whites are in ...

Well, that's any respect for King Charles finally buried. Why on earth is he honouring that total cretin Welsby, the man who sat on the greatest down turn of the Anglican church. A thing to whom politics and migrants mean more than his mission to God? And this follows Charlie boys jaunts to COPout2...

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
Pipes burst in our house. Waste pipes from En-suite Shower, main bathroom shower and bath. All gone. House is soaking feck* wet 3 days before Christmas. House is only 8 years old. This after we found the main bathrooms' toilet was fitted without rubber washers earlier this year and piss/sh*t water ...
