Re: Remaining fixtures
I've put a tenner on us to win outright at 10/1. DSB can you rationalise that one with stats for me?

Re: When do we make a call on Evatt?
For me ripping it up and starting again is not the way now. As long as we aren't in danger of going down, I'd give him another season and maybe even beyond. And even if we are in danger of going down, I don't know who out there would be a safe rescuer at this level. We're not just trying to build a ...

Re: Making HMS YouKnowWhat ship-shape: Winter 20/21 transfer thread
Know this sounds crazy when we have a 38 year old coach in goal but... Id actually feel nervous replacing Gilks at the moment. What with the impact he seems to have had on confidence and organisation.

Re: Growing a pair at the UniBol. Man(up)sfield at home. Tuesday 3rd Nov 7pm.
Thought it might be interesting to grab a few quotes from opposing fans to see how we're perceived in the lead up to matches. Let me know if too uninteresting/depressing to repeat... "I think we will get our first win as Bolton go into free fall and out of the league. 4-1 to the mighty stags Maynard...

Re: Wrecking Crewe - In search of a Tin Pot to piss in. Crewe Alex (H). FL Trophy 7PM 8/9/2020
For me, certainly in the first half, our passing was the bit that was really scuppering us. Every third pass was too short or just wayward. I agree with all the criticism of the defence whole heatedly but, when you give away possession in the middle of the park without warning, its that much harder ...

Re: Would you get an iFollow season ticket?
Same. I no longer live locally and bought every match day pass on iFollow/Sky when a Bolton match was available. iFollow is single cam with radio commentary dubbed - so by no means a glittering package - but didn't bother me at all after five mins. Keeps me as connected to home as I can be. As far a...

Re: Summer 2020 transfers
Couldn't believe Crawford when it was announced. Too good for us in League 1! As others have said, real show of intent. I also liked Dodoo and Emmanuel last season and think they'd really benefit from the Evatt way from what I've read/heard.
Rumours of Spearing. What do people think about that?

Really excited about the future now. Hope we recruit players similar to the Head Coach - young, hungry and on the way up rather than just the usual crop of middling journey men.

Re: New Manager Thread
Got to say, the Athletic video on Evatt that DSB posted on Keith Hill Out sold me! He sounds like exactly what we need if we're looking for more of a coach that is going to bring entertaining football (and hopefully success with it). And despite our continued decline It'd be hard to argue Barrow to ...

Re: FV Recruitment Model
SJM's always one to come down on the side of the supporters (most notably during the Anderson situation). I wonder if now having to toe the club line might conflict him a little? To be fair, siding with the supporters during the KA debacle was really just siding with sanity and decency. As for binn...

Don't know if anyone listens to Iles' Buff podcast but the latest episode is dedicated to the issue of the manager. Some good points made about other places the blame may lie. No insider secrets and not letting Hill off the hook but does offer some perspective.

Re: A trip to Micky D's: MK Dons (A), Sat 22 Feb 2020, 3pm
Ultimately, to progress, we need to become a team that develops youth and sells on until we're big enough to be a buying club. I'd suggest that's the model everyone needs at this level. I suppose until our academy starts producing often then it will be a case of revolving doors and heads above water...

I don't mind the short-term contracts, especially in embargo. Two words: Ben Amos. Yes, we need to build and I'd be giving longer contracts to promising youngsters. But when we're shopping at ZeroPoundland I don't want to be tied down. Oh yeah don't get me wrong. I suppose I meant I want people tha...

Agree entirely. If nothing else, I'm crying out for set of players that stay for more than one season - just so I can feel a bond with a Bolton team again.

Not sure he handled December or January at all well - we still had a tiny chance yet he released players who were doing a job and possibly sent out the signal that we were giving up and also that everything was short term focussed. He didn't build around what we had - whilst embargo and restriction...

Stadium MK feels like sitting in a car showroom somehow. Sounds like one too. We're playing like we did in the last days of the old regime. No speed, no press, poor passing, an isolated front man. It's really disappointing because Hill had gotten us playing exciting football earlier this season. Tha...

Wonder if Mr. Phoenix will ultimately be tasked with making sure the academy is a more effective conduit to the first team. Will be interesting to see what if anything changes going forward.

Regardless of the clean sheet last game, if Wright's back and fit, he has to play. He'll only make the back four stronger and, as has been said, Earl and Zouma were let off early on last time anyway.
