Re: Pigs might fly...Charlton (h) 28th Jan 2017

Absolute shite. No Ameobi. No chance. Talk about bending events to fit a narrative, which of the two sloppy goals we conceded against ten men would Sammy have got in the way of? This isn't a new thing - across the whole season our goals per game rate is 1.3, goals conceded is 0.5. There have only b...

Re: Mark Came up top: Swindon (H) Sat 14 Jan 3pm

They didn't look like a team who are struggling, so maybe the loan players have done the trick for them. That being said, throwing in a stinker like today has become a regular occurance, and it's why we can reel off 10+ home wins and still end up adrift of the automatic spots. You just can't do this...

Re: Hanging on, January Transfer Window thread 2017

Well, I guess both would only be till the end of the season on loan. And the Clough money would help cover enough of their wages. I agree in terms of the short term issue. However, I feel promotion has to be the aim now. And I guess we just have to try and maximise what we can do. Hypothetical as I...

Re: Hanging on, January Transfer Window thread 2017

From Parky's perspective this must be becoming a pretty shoddy situation. I am sure he joined us on the basis that there was a chance of the embargo being in place for the summer TW, despite KA's public comments to the contrary, but that it would be out of sight by now. And there is no sign of DH/K...

Re: Ken Anderson - New Owner (Definitely. For Now ..... )

I'm all for transparency when it comes to things like the Macron deal being sorted, changes to the board and even the fact we'll be getting even shitter beer. It's only when the rest of his statements read like 3am Facebook posts passive aggressively aimed at an ex missus that I begin to doubt that ...

Re: Sports Shield - New Owners (Probably)

Surely the whole point of Anderson and Deano (or substitute <Any New Owner(s)>) was that they, between them, were going to ensure the financial viability of the Club in a "post ED" world and as far as we were told, through the end of last season and the whole of this, as a minimum as agreed with th...

Re: Sports Shield - New Owners (Probably)

I'm not as pessimistic as some. Anderson has so far delivered well, he's not come in here to walk away having lost money. So I'm positive he feels he can fund the club until he brings in further investment or sell it on. I think the issue all along has been that the deal between himself and Deano w...

Re: Port out, starboard home? Landlocked Peterborough (A) 13

Absolutely didnnot deserve anything today. And you know what - we would have at least a point playing this badly if parkinson hadnt made such terrible decisions in the transfer window. He let two young lads go who carry more goal threat in their little fingers than the dogshit trio of procter ander...

Re: Port out, starboard home? Landlocked Peterborough (A) 13

That first half was so dull I spent it ranking goalkeepers we've had since I've been going (min. 1 appearance). An inauspicious start for Alnwick. 1. Jussi Jaaskelainen 2. Keith Branagan 3. Adam Bogdan 4. Ali Al Habsi 5. Andy Lonergan 6. Matt Clarke 7. Mark Howard 8. Ben Amos 9. Ian Walker 10. Steve...

Re: The Politics Thread

I didn't vote for Brexit and I wouldn't have voted for Trump (though I'm dubious of anyone who would say they'd actually want to vote for Clinton), but I don't think it's hard to see why they won. There are more than enough non-racist, non-misogynist, non-xenophobic people in both countries for Rema...

Re: Swindon (A) 08/10/16 1pm - Match Thread

Clough - we own him, he's a young(ish) lad with a lot of talent. We are hoping he develops into a player who can either play for us at a better level or we sell him to a bigger team. Henry - is ours for 3 months, has a good record at this level and is owned by wolves. To be frank if he doesn't have...

Re: For new signings, ask the man from the Pru

I think you have to be slightly wary of anyone who plummets two divisions at his age. It could be that he's held on at Everton for as long as he could (aided by better players), and is now completely shot. So yeah, I wouldn't expect him to come in and run the show, but we need midfielders and given ...

Re: Oxford (H) 1st Oct 2016 15:00

Personally I think it's attitude. Parkinson said in his interview that we started the season knowing we had a small squad and off the back of a disastrous season all grafting and working for each other with intensity. Then we add in some wide players and attacking players supposedly good for the le...

Re: Allardyces dream job...

Still finding all this hard to believe. Either Sam's been given an ultimatum for his silliness or he's been well and truly set up, witch hunted and made a victim of a situation that shouldn't even exist in sport. Why is he not kicking and screaming in his usual fashion and just tamely giving up his...

Although Lennon resigned, so you couldn't have kept him even if you wanted to (which I accept, most didn't).

Re: Allardyces dream job...

He hasn't told anyone how to "circumvent" the rules. The rules were brought in to ban 3rd party ownership because there were situations were players weren't actually owned by their clubs and also where players didn't control where they went (the slavery point). All Allardyce explains how to "get ar...
