Re: The Politics Thread
Sir flip has flopped again, it would be amusing except for the consequences of these actions, mind, the Tories should put a lid on any gloating, they had plenty of time to call a public inquiry. Oh and doesn't 'up her own with self importance' Rachel from accounts look even stupider than she is by ...

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread
Interesting. Fair correction. He's played half a dozen times for UAE but as you say sporting representation is probz different to citizenship. My niece and nephew were born there, so learnt that before I even lived there myself. Its a fascinating place, in that anything is possible if you know the ...

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread
A bit more left-field, if you forgive the pun, Schuey could also ask his Everton contacts about Fleetwood's Mackenzie Hunt. Interesting story, this one. Now 23, he was on the Toffees books at age 6 but then his builder dad moved the family to Dubai. They stayed until he was 13 - meaning he got UAE ...

Re: The Politics Thread
I'm still of the opinion that building properly affordable homes for long term rent is the way to go. If you have a perfectly good home that you can live in for as long as you like (assuming you pay rent and don't trash it), then many wouldn't feel the need to buy. That would leave 'the market' to e...

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread
I for one would be quite happy to see Collins go. I think he's emblematic of the issues of the last couple seasons. For sure, we'd miss his ability to score out of nothing, but for too much of the time his contribution is more Dan than SKD. Goes missing far too often. I'd rather reliability and ste...

Re: The Politics Thread
I'd say the UK train system has a capacity problem rather than a speed one, along with a set-up much like Worthy's favourite DoF set-up in football. It is designed so it allows endless buck passing. HS1 was an expensive way to improve capacity, but the west coast line is still a mess. Capacity and ...

If we must have privatised utilities then you regulate the feck out of them and fine the feck out of them if they don't provide adequate service/infrastructure. If they don't like it they can walk away and either someone else will, or the taxpayer will like we used to. British Rail might have been ...

Re: The Politics Thread
The government should be concentrating on making a more equal society rather than micro managing 100s of different types of payments/benefits/entitlements. We should be working towards wages that are liveable rather than topping up to the benefit of shareholders. If you work, you can afford a reason...

Re: Division Three, 2024/25
Plymouth tweeted tonight that Muslic has been given permission (reluctantly) to speak to Schalke. I was surprised to see Barry-Murphy & Buckingham as front runners, ahead of Evatt for the Cardiff job. Evatt's stock must have fallen further than I realised. I'm currently in Plymouth. If you can get ...

The fishermen/women were fecked over when they voted for Boris and his chums and the subsequent oven ready deal (which was a rebranded hash of the May one that he said was shit). The new deal is no worse for said fishermen/women and actually improves their ability to sell their catches. If you real...

Re: The Politics Thread
The bits of welfare that need sorting are things like housing. How much are we paying out to house folk in profit driven accommodation? How about we define affordable housing based on affordability rather than an arbitrary amount under market rate. Build the housing needed, even if it takes 20 year...

Re: Division Three, 2024/25
Yeah, I hear you. I spent most of my life working in Cities, worldwide, but prefer to come home at weekends to get away from them. London is a long way from the top of my list, but maybe because I've seen it most often.. I moved around, mainly sticking north of course, but did try west, east and so...
