If he's going to jump ship, what he says at a higher level won't be our concern. To get there he has to achieve something here so I'll take any good achievements on the way.

Clubs jettison managers regularly so wouldn't blame him if he did. It's the way of the world.

Re: I don't think I like Ian Evatt much, but this is why I think he will succeed here.

It might be more helpful if they walked in, a bit shagged, because they'd given 45 solid minutes of "the press" and could do with the breather. I rarely judge on the bollocks people talk but in the case of football what I see on the pitch. If he thinks he's getting the best advice from Zen meets the...

Noticed our league cup conquerors Bradford got spanked 5-0 at home by Lincoln. I don't subscribe to the 'concentrate on the league' school of thought, but I think I'm slightly grateful we got knocked out!
Aye, spotted that too....Don't think at this juncture a spanking would help much...

Re: Division Four, 2020-?

A couple of conflicting stats from BWFC Stats Twitter. This is the lowest League position we've ever been in, which is a downer, but, the first time since Dec 2018, we've not occupied a relegation spot. Take your glass half full / half empty pick. :-)

Re: I don't think I like Ian Evatt much, but this is why I think he will succeed here.

To some extent, he's set the rod for his own back. You can't blame supporters for pointing out that something looked less than an "automatic promotion" performance, when the Manager has come in and said that's what he expects - not in a couple of years time, but now and here. We went through the squ...

Also, and this will apparently be controversial for some on here. Santos was one of our better players yesterday. When we moved Santos to the middle of the three he suddenly looked a league player. When we went to a 4 he looked assured for most of it. As has been said, they sat back more by the tim...

That's pretty much how I remembered it, but we did have a few chances in their box, I guess just not enough to generate any heat!

Might be part of the answer Bertie, but thought that's what White and Comley were supposed to be doing in part. There does seem to be too much space between half way and our 18 yard on too many occasions. Noticable to me that Crellin was trying to marshall the defence a bit more yesterday. Make me w...

Re: How Evatt turned round his Barrow

Think there were too many folks expecting 4-0 yesterday, mayhap in the Twittersphere rather than on here. I was hoping for a coherent performance and if we drew or lost against the better team on the day, so be it. What I think I saw was a team beset by its own self doubt. We dominated the first 15 ...

Barrow's poor start last season is a glimmer of hope, sounds like it clicked all of a sudden and they went on a brilliant run. I don't think one league game in is reasonable to rush to judgement about much else than the game itself. The thing I was most miffed about is that I think he has in his he...

If you're giving a guy a 1 out of 10 he'd better have at least wiped his arse with the shirt and scored a couple of own goals. My point, in a nutshell. Depends where you set your own bar to start off with. On the Worthyrating system, with the exception of Crellin who had another solid game, I doubt...

Look on the bright side. Our odds for promotion should move out a few points...That was awful. The glimpses we saw in first two games largely disappeared. How Crawford didn't start is beyond me. He wasn't excellent when he came on, but head and shoulders better than what had gone before.

First 15 minutes looked tidyish but then we seemed to stop. Glass half full, good chances for Doyle and Greenidge. Glass half empty, they've had good chances too. 0-0 probably a fair reflection, problem is this looks winnable and at the minute they have as much chance as us.

Re: Pragmatism vs Perseverance

Style-wise, I agree we should hold out longer. Despite the results of the first two games, there were occasions in both when I was pleased with our pass and attack play. As mentioned, second half v Crewe was a decent watch, felt like we were trying to play "good football". That's been missing under ...

Re: Pragmatism vs Perseverance

There comes a point where pragmatism will kick in. How many relegations would such a team suffer before deciding that it wasn't working? Sure the answer isn't at 6 games in, but if we were on zero points then I'm fairly sure questions would start being asked if it was down to rinse/repeat mistakes. ...
