Re: New Manager Thread

I suspect I'm in a minority of one on this, but Barrow had a poor start to the season and were starting to flag before lockdown. In between, they had a great six months. So, Ian (the only under 40 year old Ian I've heard of 😁) just might not be the Messiah. But, I'll back him if he's our manager / c...

If Tobias really does have the ultimate say on recruitment then next year's promotion winners will be Phoenix's Knights.

Three months of lockdown and that's the best you can come up with? :D

Impossible job last season but don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

Re: The Keith Hill out thread

Remind me: will Hill be out on 30 June? Looks like it. Iles has him and Flitcroft as goners today. Who’s next?! Yes, just read Iles' piece in the BN. The writing is on the wall: "Both Hill and Flitcroft were placed on leave at the start of April and sources close to the pair say they have had littl...

Just seen Nicky Hunt queuing up outside Morrison's and looking a bit miffed; turns out he's just been released by Crewe.

I know what we all dream of, but could he do a job for us?

A job in what capacity? Player, manager or CEO? And would Morrison's release him so soon?

We've been relgated.

For the fourth time in nine seasons, which I think means we now have the ignominious honour of being the most relegated club in the EFL.

We're top of the "most relegated" league? Whoop, whoop! The Whites are going up! :pissed:

Re: The Keith Hill out thread

Replacements? Has to be a diamond amidst the rough out there somewhere...? Might seem a bit obvious but I like the sound of what Ian Evatt's done at "Barrowcelona" - seems like a good combination of coaching style and non-league management nous. It might seem a wrench for him to leave them if they ...

Re: We'll meet you outside

Bumped into CAPSLOCK yesterday. The first time we met was in the away end at Marseille. Yesterday we met in the social distancing queue at Morrison's. It's like it's a reflection of the club's downward trajectory 😐 I was in the home end in Marseilles (couldn't get a ticket in our end) and in the qu...

Re: We'll meet you outside

Met plenty off here, referred to by BP's daughter as his 'football boyfriend'. I once told my wife I was getting a lift from Enoch to a game at MK Dons. Her response was, "So, you're getting into a car with an older man you met on the internet?" I'm banned from giving life advice to our 9 year old.

Four of the kids have turned pro.

Goalkeeper Matthew Alexander (18), defender Adam Senior (18) and midfielders Sonny Graham (17) and Callum King-Harmes (18) have all put pen-to-paper on a one-year professional contract after graduating through the club’s youth system.

Trust me, if you'd met him you'd remember.

I still get the flashbacks!

You'll know him by his mating call: "You get these and I'll get the next round."

Re: We'll meet you outside

My induction was at a midweek game at QPR - I think it was about six years ago. I met Enoch in a pub near Oxford Circus and then we joined up with a crowd off here in a pub at Shepherds Bush both before and after the game (we lost). There have been many encounters since then, the most recent being W...

We've just bought a flat that looks out directly at the Emirates, 400m across the train tracks. Not sure it's even double glazed :)

Re: COVID-19/20 season

Torygraph reckons L1 & 2 clubs will vote to end the season next week. Paywall, but you get the gist from what you can read for free. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/05/06/league-one-two-could-abandoned-next-week-planned-efl-vote/ A shame if so but understandable. What would they propose d...

Re: Don the tin helmets and Plough on regardless, AFCW (A) 7/3/2020 3pm9

How's Oxford away looking after tonight? Still possible, I think, but it may depend on us winning every game (to get to 41pts) and every single team above us losing every remaining game. Except AFC Wombles v Tranmere on Sat 21 Mar, where we would "need" a draw (but I'm tempted to go along and suppo...
