Thing is Every once in a while Santos might have a blinding game but You know that even during that particular freak event he’ll still switch off at a corner or free kick leaving an opponent with an easy chance. Liability!

Aside from the competition winner still starting I’d point out we have no sub goalkeeper. 2 fukin guesses what’s going to happen today!

I’m not sure I can bring myself to do it yet! It’s one thing driving back from the game letting your frustrations out but another sat shouting at a laptop at home! Could end in divorce!

Saturday has the hallmarks of the Scarborough game that I have heard about, but am not old enough to remember! Even then we were not rock bottom of the football league. Could be an I was there moment. Except none of us are!

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

It does sound like there are changes afoot and hopefully that means we are getting someone better than young Youn in. I dare say if he had been here this summer we wouldn’t have signed Greenidge. Can’t see him being a priority over Santos and Taft given their CV’s...even if Santos appears to have al...

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Haha I heard that last night, obviously the media training budgets out the window 🤣
If he does the business on Saturday I would give him a night in the hotel as a treat.

I take it Jon Stead is up top still for this lot? I’ve put my stab at a formation and team elsewhere - 451 stop them playing first and foremost and hopefully we can sneak a goal. We really need to reset this season and get points on the board by any means necessary. If we lose every game in October ...

Re: Pragmatism vs Perseverance

Crellin did go long a lot more - Evatt has taken that as our defenders not being brave enough and showing for the ball. If it gets Santos dropped, great, but it doesn’t address the problem.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

I think against Harrogate I would pick a midfield of Tutte, White and have Comley sit behind. Literally go to protect a point and try and build on that. Means dropping Doyle...

I think that’s one of the problems.

You could perhaps get away with it with a young keeper and experienced defenders taking control of the situation but we seem to have both mute defenders and it’s not helping the keeper.

Re: Pragmatism vs Perseverance

All I can see at the moment is Sammy Lee. Over promoted and hopelessly out of his depth. OppositionManagers pitching up every week saying how it will “come good” whilst hoping the car crash continued as it’s one less relegation spot to worry about.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Yes - meant Jake Wright! Just someone of that ilk on loan. I don’t think any of the players we have are talkers at the back - they have been signed based on physical stats but we need someone more tactically astute.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Greenidge, Taft and Delaney seems somewhat unnecessary for left footed centre halves. I understand what you're saying but if you're playing a back three - as we machine-tooled the squad to do - then you'd want six, with three of them to be lefties. Taft is the established D4 player, Greenidge the M...

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Assuming we are now at our squad cap I’d still be looking for a proper centre half and if needs be I’d rip up the contract of one of the current crop to facilitate it.

Re: Pragmatism vs Perseverance

If we have to abandon the Evatt project I suspect the type of manager we need won’t work for Phoenix. He’s just as culpable in any case. Look at the signings: Goalkeeper- good shot stopper but as predicted decision making looks iffy and I noticed several times he was arguing with defenders yesterday...

Re: Pragmatism vs Perseverance

We’ve not even got the fans in the ground giving stick, booing - evatt/Phoenix signed every single player - there are no excuses for this! He could be the first manager we’ve ever had potted without a game in front of fans. It’s woeful.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Well they both looked shite to me. Is that the the basis of a money ball signing then? Utter shite but we may be able to flog them anyway?

Re: Pragmatism vs Perseverance

I’m not seeing it. Gone by the end of next month is my prediction. I think they'll desperately cling to.him no.matter what. To a point obviously, but no way this side of Christmas. We've signed some shit but a reasonable team can be made from what we've got. He might need to set aside his lofty ide...
