Re: The athletics/running thread

It'll not be back until after the final covid restrictions are removed late June, no chance. After that I think some will never come back because they've got too big and the break is an opportunity to stop for some landowners or councils. I did tooting common when I was living in London and it was ...

Re: The athletics/running thread

London Mayor Sadiq Khan now intervening on London's inconspicuous absence from parkrun approvals with an open letter...

We'll see what they say tomorrow, and I do hope it's back, but f*ck me parkrun top brass seem like a right sort.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.

As with anything, any signing is an unknown in so much no one knows how it will turn out? Look at Baptiste when he re-signed. How many people thought that was a good idea? Equally with Maddison. How many thought what a tremendous signing? Truth is we won't know until it happens. You could be right,...

Re: The athletics/running thread

CODE: SELECT ALL London, ruining it for everyone else since 2001.

Not sure why it's a uniform blank across the capital. Half of me things there will be a co-ordinated 'yes' on the day parkrun said they'll announce whether it can go ahead or not :/

Re: The athletics/running thread

Unstoppable force (parkrun mafia) vs the immovable object (local government bureaucracy). Feels there is something under the surface here, the stories are obviously coming from parkrun themselves which I doubt local councils, who have an in-tray fuller than the inside of the boozers will be by five ...

Re: NFL - America's Game

Got into it proper when I moved to the States and that's carried on since I've been back, going on five years now. Picked the Bills when I was over there (unfashionable team in the north, wonder why that seemed attractive). They've improved markedly in the last two years, and excited to see what thi...

Re: The athletics/running thread

Physio finally started! Many thanks for the offer GtE but found out I could get it through work via health insurance. Seem to think it's hamstring tendonitis which isn't good, neither was the given recovery time. We will see how things progress but looking likelier than not that London will be defe...

Where’s Leigh exactly? Back at club tonight and there was a Leigh Harrier who has moved down south and was checking out the club. I said I had a few friends in running clubs up there. Nice to hear a northern accent again :) It's a fleapit of a place on the way into Wigan. No, don’t hold back Bruce,...

Away from music...podcasts!

Recently stumbled upon the Beef and Dairy Network podcast and have been gorging on it all week. Really silly oddball comedy and I bloody love it so far.

Still enjoying Line of Duty, tbf I eat that kind of stuff up. Does feel like the Hastings character has to get one catchphrase in per episode, which grates mildly.

Re: The athletics/running thread

London to Brighton at the weekend. Nice little ride, and a zoom up Devil's Dyke before heading down to the seafront. Lovely views, bastard of a hill though. Back at track on Thursday which should be nice. Then moving to Leyton in a fortnight so shall be scouting out some running/tri clubs out east. ...

I have learned this evening that Harrogate Town's nickname is 'The Sulphurites' and for that reason alone I hope we dick them 8-0.

Re: This weeks RIP's........

Obituaries for public figures are nearly always written in advance but I've never watched anything like that show on the BBC earlier on Prince Phillip. It's one of those things that you know 'has' to happen-a pre-prepared show on the passing of a major member of the royal family- but seeing it actua...

Around 70km on the iron horse today out to Windsor and a bit back. Felt fine apart from the horrible headwinds that seemed to blight the entire journey east. This evening's takeaway curry has sated the appetite.

A glance at the result of this evening's result from the world Cup qualifier between Ireland and Luxembourg should provide a nice bit of amusement to round off the evening.
